Not the Girl You Marry by Andie J. Christopher

Hannah Mayfield and Jack Nolan have both been unlucky with previous relationships. They meet as individuals out with friends and feel an immediate connection.  Each has the opportunity for job advancement by using the other in a fake relationship lasting 2 weeks.  What they don’t know is they are both faking the relationship and for the same reason.  Predictably, at the end of the 2 weeks, neither of them want the relationship to end.

While I appreciate the storyline of reinventing How to Lose a Guy in 10 days, unlike the movie this book did not meet my expectations.  I did not connect to, or even like,  Hannah finding her to be far too brash. Don’t get me wrong - I love the idea of a strong woman character.  But I felt Hannah didn’t really want to be liked but rather enjoyed being the “bitch” she self-proclaims to be - an attribute which I am not fond of.

Having said that, I did find the storyline entertaining enough that I read to the end of the book.  I don’t expect this romance novel to be made into a Hallmark movie though.

Thanks to Edelweiss Plus, Berkley and Penguin Publishing Group for the ARC of this book in exchange for the honest review provided here.

My rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.
