As the year winds down, I always feel a pull to pause and look back — not just at the books I’ve read, but at the rhythms of reading and writing that shaped my days throughout the year. 2025 was a particularly notable chapter for me, as I made a conscious shift to audiobooks only midway through the year, changing not just how I read, but when and where stories fit into my everyday life. Listening became part of my walks, quiet mornings, and long stretches of ordinary days, and it reshaped my reading experience in ways I didn’t fully expect.
This post is a snapshot of that year. It’s a look at the books that carried me through the seasons, the goals I set, and the patterns that emerged in both my reading life and my blogging. It’s also a moment to reflect on the people behind the numbers — the readers who stopped by, left a comment, shared a post, or quietly returned again and again. Before turning the page on 2025, I wanted to gather it all here and reflect on what this year of reading and writing truly looked like.

Are You Wondering What My Favourite Books Were in 2025?
Check out my post My Favourite Books of 2025!
Looking back on 2025, I’m reminded that reading has never just been about hitting targets or filling spreadsheets — it’s about connection, curiosity, and finding meaning in stories when we need them most. The challenges I took on, the books that surprised me, and the posts that resonated most all point to a year shaped by both intention and flexibility.
Most of all, I’m deeply grateful for the readers who made this year what it was. Whether you’ve been here for years or found the blog for the first time in 2025, your presence, messages, and engagement continue to motivate me to keep showing up and sharing what I’m reading. As I look ahead to 2026, I’m carrying forward the lessons of this year — reading with curiosity, blogging with heart, and leaving space for the unexpected stories that always seem to find us when we least expect them.
I wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Successful 2026!

Wonderful and lovely post, Jodie💜 I shifted to primarily audiobooks a few years ago and never looked back. Publishers have embraced the trend and the narrator pool is fabulous.
So glad I connected with you and Happy New Year 🎆

Thanks Jonetta. Happy New Year to you as well!

I enjoyed reading your stats as well as your thoughts on the year. I was just going to ask if you read only audiobooks, but then you answered that question in your post! I read almost everything in a digital format on my phone using the Libby, Hoopla, and Kindle apps. I know a lot of people don’t enjoy consuming books on their phones, but I find it very convenient.

Thank you! I certainly do for audiobooks Trish.

I definitely like your take that reading isn’t about meeting goals, but enjoyment. It definitely is for me as well! And that’s why there are some challenges/goals I don’t always meet if I can’t fit in what I want to read. Here’s hoping 2026 will be a wonderful reading year for us all!

Congratulations on all of your success in 2025! I love the message of moving with curiosity and intention rather than hitting certain goals. I’ve found a balance between both in the last year and it’s made reading enjoyable again.

Lovely post Jodie (I’m catching up after a break) I love seeing where in the world people are reading too, it blows my mind 😂 I do think I need to give serious consideration to audiobooks to help me read more now my time is limited. Hope 2026 is kind to you x
