Summary:
Laney Reynolds returns to her hometown of Cherrywood Creek for the holidays, hoping its festive charm and snowy streets will help her heal from the growing distance in her marriage to Connor, whose ambition once consumed him. But Connor isn’t ready to give up—determined to prove that love matters more than corporate success, he follows her to the small town, trading high-rises for holiday traditions. With only a month to win her back, he’ll need more than sweet gestures and romantic nights to show Laney that her husband, not his career, comes first.
My Thoughts:
Laney Reynolds is heartbroken when she leaves her workaholic husband, Connor, and returns home to Cherrywood Creek for the holidays. With its snow-covered streets, festive events, and small-town charm, it’s exactly the kind of place where she hopes to heal. But Connor isn’t ready to give up on their marriage. He takes her leaving as a wake-up call and heads to Cherrywood Creek determined to win her back—one gingerbread house, hot chocolate date, and heartfelt apology at a time.
I really enjoyed the Christmassy atmosphere in this second-chance romance. Cherrywood Creek felt like the perfect small-town holiday setting, filled with charm and spirit. The local events, especially the fun scavenger hunt, were a lovely touch and added a lighthearted feel to the story. While I found the book a bit predictable and could have done without quite so many steamy scenes, it was still an enjoyable and cozy holiday read.
The Narration:
I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Monique Makena and Max Rauch, and thought they did a great job bringing Laney and Connor to life. The alternating points of view worked well, and both narrators captured the emotion and chemistry between the characters beautifully.
Final Thoughts:
Date Night in December is a heartwarming, festive romance about rediscovering love, learning to listen, and remembering what truly matters during the holidays.

I don’t often come across books where the second chance romance is actually a married couple in trouble. This sounds wonderful, even with the steamy scenes. Great review, Jodie.
