Summary:

Jill Jacobs has despised Christmas ever since her hometown love broke her heart on Christmas Day three years ago, prompting her to flee to L.A. to chase her screenwriting dreams. But when she reluctantly returns to her suburban Illinois town for the holidays, a hazy night lands her in a surreal situation: she’s trapped inside a Heartfelt-style Christmas movie, complete with snowy streets, peppermint-scented air, her quirky family, a too-perfect bakery-owning crush, and her flannel-clad ex. The only escape is to play along with the movie’s script—holiday bake-offs, picture-perfect romance, and all—which forces Jill to stage a festive love story with her old crush while navigating awkward encounters with the ex who once shattered her heart.

My Thoughts:

This was such a cute and uplifting story! I’ve often wondered what it would be like to step into a real-life Hallmark Christmas movie, and the author captures that feeling perfectly.

Jill Jacobs reluctantly returns to her hometown for the holidays, only to wake up—after one too many drinks—in what the author cleverly calls a Heartfelt movie. Suddenly, she’s surrounded by all the Christmas magic and traditions you’d expect, though Jill herself isn’t exactly thrilled. Still, this magical twist gives her the chance to revisit her past and make things right.

Along the way, two former love interests resurface, adding a bit more steam than you’d find in a typical Hallmark film. I loved that the story is filled with festive activities, seasonal treats, and plenty of holiday charm to set the perfect Christmas mood.

The Narration:

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by one of my favourites, Patti Murin. She captures Jill’s personality beautifully and adds an extra sparkle to the story, making the experience even more delightful.

A fun, festive, and slightly steamier twist on the classic Hallmark-style holiday romance, brought to life with plenty of Christmas charm. Perfect if you want something cozy, lighthearted, and entertaining for the season.
