Love at First Psych is a sweet, funny, and immersive rom-com audiobook filled with charming characters, delightful sound design, and a heartwarming exploration of whether love at first sight really exists.

Length: ~5 hours.
Narrators: Ensemble.
Genre: Romantic Comedy

Summary:
A Psych 312 project on whether love at first sight really exists takes an unexpected turn when the narrator is paired with Robbie Moravian, the relentlessly cheerful, hopeless romantic whose sunny outlook and history of chaotic meet-cutes make him the last person they want as a partner. Forced to interview couples and spend long hours together just to graduate, the narrator begins to see past Robbie’s dad jokes and retro wardrobe, discovering real depth beneath his golden-boy charm. As Robbie steadily chips away at their cynicism—walking them home, finishing their sentences, and even shielding them from storms—they start to wonder if maybe, just maybe, he’s right about happy endings after all. Group projects might be the worst, but this one could change everything.
My Thoughts:
Cara Bastone has a real talent for creating immersive romantic comedies, and Love at First Psych is another standout in her Amazon Original series. The premise is both clever and charming: Marigold and Robbie, two older college students, are paired up for a Psych 312 project exploring whether “love at first sight” actually exists. Marigold, ever the skeptic, can hardly stand Robbie’s upbeat, hopelessly romantic personality. But as they spend more time together—interviewing random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships—she begins to see there’s much more to him than lame dad jokes and a thrifted ’70s wardrobe.
Both Marigold and Robbie are well-developed, likable characters, and I found myself completely charmed by their dynamic. Robbie’s optimism and respect for Marigold made me root for him from the start, and their chemistry built so naturally as the story unfolded. Honestly, I loved everything about this book.
The Narration:
I absolutely loved listening to this audiobook. The story is sweet, funny, and exactly what I needed. The production is second to none—full of delightful sound effects, playful banter, and an ensemble cast that brings so much authenticity to the characters, especially the couples whose stories span different ages and experiences. It felt less like listening to an audiobook and more like being dropped into the middle of a witty, heartwarming rom-com.
Final Thoughts:
If you’re a fan of romantic comedy audiobooks that feel immersive and uplifting, I can’t recommend Love at First Psych enough. I truly hope Cara Bastone and Audible continue to collaborate—because every release so far has been a gem.
