Summary:
Flora adores Christmas, so when her grumpy boss fires her from the Deck the Halls emporium, she seizes the chance to chase her dreams in the ultimate holiday destination—Lapland. Setting off in a campervan-turned-Christmas-shop, she’s ready for hot chocolate, reindeer rides, and all the festive magic she loves. What she doesn’t expect is Connor, a strikingly handsome man who captures her heart but despises everything about Christmas. Now, Flora must find a way to share her holiday spirit with him—and perhaps discover a little romance beneath the mistletoe.
My Thoughts:
It’s been a few years since I’ve picked up a Rebecca Raisin book, but I’m so glad I decided to listen to this one. Flora’s Travelling Christmas Shop is an utterly charming, snow-dusted escape centred around Flora, a lovable Christmas enthusiast whose luck seems to have taken a nosedive. After being fired from her dream job at a London Christmas emporium—and losing her best friend and roommate to a big move to Los Angeles—Flora suddenly finds herself at loose ends. When someone suggests she channel her festive passion into running her own Christmas business out of a campervan, she takes the plunge. And really, what better destination for a fresh start than Lapland, the most Christmassy place she can imagine?
Before she even reaches her final stop, Flora meets Connor—a rugged, Norse-god type who makes her stomach swirl with snowflakes despite his grumpy demeanour and absolute dislike for the commercial side of Christmas. Once Flora settles into the cosy, slightly chaotic community of nomadic market vendors, she faces a swirl of cultural surprises, gossip, and competition. Still, she’s determined to make her holiday season a success, even if it means tackling Lapland’s challenges head-on. The sunshine-and-grump trope shines here, and I loved watching Flora’s natural warmth slowly chip away at Connor’s frostiness, especially as she sets out to convert him into someone who can appreciate the magic of Christmas.
The Narration:
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Katy Sobey, who truly becomes Flora. Her delivery captures Flora’s sweetness, innocence, and comedic timing so naturally that it feels like you’re right there beside her in that little Christmas campervan. Sobey brings the festive charm to life beautifully, making the audiobook a genuinely joyful listening experience.
Final Thoughts:
This story is packed with holiday cheer, gentle humour, and a warm, whimsical energy that makes it perfect for the season. The sunshine-and-grump dynamic between Flora and Connor is delightful, and Flora’s optimism is impossible not to root for. If you’re looking for something fun, festive, and full of heart, Flora’s Travelling Christmas Shop is a wonderful choice—and the audiobook is one I’d highly recommend.

This sounds like a lot of fun. I have a couple of Raisin’s books on my TBR, and I’m looking forward to trying them out.
