I enjoy reading books about authors and the literary world they work in. I also love a good mystery. Finlay Donovan Is Killing by Elle Cosimano combines these two interests and wraps it up in one entertaining package. This book is the author\u2019s debut into adult fiction and I sincerely hope that she will continue writing in this genre.<\/p>\n

Plot Summary<\/span><\/p>\n

Finlay Donovan is a single mother of two in deep financial debt. She\u2019s already taken and spent the advance on her next book, but can\u2019t find the time or a story to write about – particularly now that her estranged husband has fired the nanny. She meets with her literary agent over lunch to discuss the book she\u2019s supposed to be writing and is overheard by a woman who believes she is a contract killer. Out of a need to get out of financial debt, she inadvertently finds herself accepting the offer to kill this woman\u2019s husband for $50,000. <\/p>\n

What transpires is a humorous set of events that delves Finlay deeper and deeper into a world she doesn\u2019t belong. With the assistance of Vero, her once fired and now live in nanny, Finlay finds herself being able to write a story similar to reality. But will she get herself out of this mess in time to complete her book?<\/p><\/div>\n

Book Review<\/span><\/p>\n

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story is well developed, and the characters were both interesting and likeable. There were many humorous moments in the book which I appreciated. I loved the addition of Vero as Finlay\u2019s partner in crime – she\u2019s supportive, gutsy and a little crazy. While parts of the story were a little predictable, it didn\u2019t decrease my level of enjoyment for the book. The set up is there for a sequel to this book and I will be watching with interest for one. <\/p><\/div>\n
