My Week:
It’s been a very difficult week. Last weekend, our plans for a day of shopping and lunch with my mom, sister, and niece had to be cancelled. My Mom has been struggling with her heart condition and just wasn’t feeling up to it. Her cardiologist has been unreachable, so our family doctor stepped in with some suggestions for adjusting the timing of her medication. We’re hopeful that this will help her start feeling a bit better. We did spend time with her over the weekend, but it wasn’t quite the day we had hoped to give her.
Then, on Wednesday, we received more tough news—both my dad and my brother were hit with health setbacks. My Dad isn’t responding as well to his chemotherapy as he had been, and my brother now requires surgery for a new cancer diagnosis. My sister and I are doing our best to support everyone, but it’s been a lot to take in. More difficult times are ahead of us.
To top it off, the weather has matched the mood—cooler, wet, and gray.
On a more restful note, my husband and I are heading to Victoria for a couple of nights this coming week. We’re really looking forward to the change of scenery and are hoping the weather stays dry while we’re there. Victoria is one of my favourite nearby getaways, and it’s been a few years since we last visited.
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, & Libro.fm: None that I have accepted.
From The Library: None. I’ve declined a few I’ve had on hold to try and get through my already long TBR list first.
From Audible:

Zeke and Lexi expected their night together to be a fleeting escape, but a miscommunication leaves them adrift on an untethered houseboat, surrounded by endless water. Zeke was only in town to buy back his late father’s boat, while Lexi had no time for romance, focused on helping care for her best friend’s daughter. Now, with limited provisions and no immediate way home, they must work together to navigate their way back—while also confronting an unexpected challenge. Because when you’re stranded at sea with someone, there’s plenty of time to truly get to know them…and maybe even fall in love.
What I’m Watching:
There are lots of season finales so I’m relying more on streaming services these days. Nine Perfect Strangers is showing their second season on Amazon Prime and Hulu beginning May 22. The first season was a little bizarre for me but entertaining nonetheless. Nicole Kidman returns in her role as Masha. Nine Perfect Strangers is based on the book of the same name written by Liane Moriarty.

I look forward to Nine Perfect Strangers. The cast is good and Liane wrote the storyline for season two.
I hope everything else settles down for you.

Ugh. I’m sorry about all the terrible health news for folks you love. I hope you will feel renewed after your getaway and feel charged up to deal with all the care and support you will need to give to others.
