My Week:
I hope everyone who celebrates is enjoying Christmas week. Itās been another rainy stretch here, and when the sun manages to peek through for even a few hours, it feels especially welcome. Itās been a bit of a strange week overall. My hubby has been experiencing some unusual symptoms, and while our family doctor hasnāt been able to pinpoint the cause just yet, he is thankfully feeling a little better as I write this Friday morning. Weāre hopeful heās on the mend and will be following up with the doctor again after the New Year.
We ended up cancelling our Christmas Eve plans due to his illness, but we were able to make it to my sisterās house on Christmas Day for a big family meal. The food was delicious, and the company was even better ā exactly what we all needed.
On a more technical note, my blog post scheduled for December 26 didnāt publish as previewed earlier today and appeared blank except for the title. After doing some research and contacting my host (who had to escalate the issue), I did some troubleshooting of my own and discovered the problem was related to the post categories. Once I removed all but one required category, everything published correctly. If you happen to notice anything amiss on my site, please do let me know. Iāve experienced a few hiccups since updating to the latest WordPress version a few weeks ago, and if the issues persist, I may need to consider changing my theme.
Recent Additions To My Bookshelf:
From Publishers, Netgalley, & Libro.fm:

Artist Eden Fox is poised for success when her life is suddenly upended. After returning from a run, she finds her key no longer works, a stranger who looks just like her living in her home, and her husband insisting the other woman is his real wife. Six months earlier, a solitary Londoner named Birdy inherits the same seaside home, Spyglass, from a grandmother she never knew. But when Birdy visits a mysterious clinic that predicts her date of death, dark secrets begin to surface. As past and present collide, the truth behind Spyglass and its occupants twists into a chilling tale of identity, obsession, and deceitāwhere nothing, and no one, is what they seem.
From The Library:

Maggie Hodges and her daughter Piper head to a cozy knitting retreat in New Hope, Pennsylvania, only to discover their peaceful getaway collides with a rowdy bushcraft bachelor party. A playful competition between the unlikely groups quickly escalates into rivalryāand unexpected connectionsābut the real tension lies between Maggie and Piper as long-buried mistakes and resentments threaten their bond. As the weekend spirals, Maggie must confront the tangles of the past and decide whether she can stitch her relationship with her daughter back together before it unravels for good.
What Iām Watching:
Iām looking forward to watching Kate Winsletās directorial debut film āGoodbye Juneā on Netflix. Itās the story of a man and his four adult children whose wifeās health takes a turn during Christmastime. Iām sure it will be an emotional story.

I wish you a wonderful holiday week ahead!

Harvee
I heard there are some bugs going around that may spoil the holidays for some. Hope your hubby continues to improve.
I watched Man vs Baby on Netflix, an hilarious Christmas film set in London. With the guy who plays Mr. Bean in other movies.
I’m also reading and listening to thrillers over the holidays! One of the writers is Canadian, Shari Lapena, an excellent suspense mystery writer.

Thanks for letting me know about other bloggers experiencing issues. Iām glad you enjoying one of Shari Lapenaās books!

I’m sorry your husband was sick. Ugh. It’s awful when people feel badly over Christmas.
Goodbye June sounds like a movie I should look for.

It was an emotional one for me Deb. Well done but too soon after losing my Dad in September.

I love this time of year with all the “best of” lists. I usually do one for fiction, nonfiction, audiobooks, and book club choices. I also do a wrap up post on my year and this Book Survey, which is my Sunday Salon post this week: https://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com/2025/12/2025-survey-of-books.html

I’m so sorry that your husband has been sick, Jody. We have been good here, but I know others who have been dealing with a virus of some sort. I hope he continues to improve. I’m still using the free WordPress, but have been considering an upgrade. I hope you have no more issues, as that can be frustrating. We had a lovely, yet relatively quiet Christmas. We messaged with my daughter and her partner for an hour or so, which was lovely, but it will never be the same as having her and Brian here. Goodbye June sounds really emotional, but I think I will check it out. It will definitely be a change from all the Christmas Movies, I’ve been watching.

Thank you Carla. Goodbye June is based at Christmas but very different from many others. I hope you enjoy it.

I am glad that you were able to make it to Christmas Day with family! I hope your husband is feeling better. My brother and his family all had the flu so we weren’t able to celebrate with them on Christmas either. It was a bummer but we were able to see them yesterday which was nice.

Thanks Erin.
