My Week:
It’s been a quiet week. We celebrated my mom’s 85th birthday last Sunday, and I’m deeply grateful to have her in my life. Although she’s faced some significant health challenges—especially over the past year—she has been a powerful example of resilience in the face of adversity.
We’re still waiting to hear from our family doctor about my husband’s cardiac test results, so we’ve been staying close to home to allow him as much rest as possible. Growing older is certainly not for the faint of heart.
On a brighter note, the weather has been beautiful this week, with warmer-than-normal temperatures and plenty of sunshine, which has been very much appreciated.
Recent Additions To My Bookshelf:
From Publishers, Netgalley, & Libro.fm: None
From The Library:

Darcy seems to have built a quiet, joyful life as a librarian sharing a sunlit lakeside home with her wife, Joy, two cats, and shelves overflowing with books and beloved objects, but her sense of stability shatters when news of her ex-boyfriend Ben’s death triggers a spiral of guilt, grief, and a breakdown that forces her to step away from work. Returning to the library, she finds her community embroiled in protests over intellectual freedom, book bans, and DEI programming, deepening her emotional turmoil. With the steady support of colleagues and community, and by confronting the truths of her past relationships, Darcy begins to reclaim her agency and step fully into herself, as Is This a Cry for Help? delivers a tender, resonant portrait of queer adulthood while thoughtfully examining sexuality, community, and the vital role libraries play.
From Audible:

Still grieving the loss of her fiancé, Nantucket wedding planner Mia Maxwell is struggling to rediscover her passion for a job that now feels bittersweet, especially after returning from vacation to find her house burned down and being forced to take temporary refuge at the Beach Plum Cove Inn. As she juggles concern for her younger sister Izzy’s increasingly controlling relationship and agrees to plan not one but two weddings for members of the Hodges family, Mia finds herself surrounded by love she’s not sure she believes in anymore. Complicating matters is a long-term guest at the inn—introduced by Lisa—who both intrigues and frustrates her, even as Mia insists she’s nowhere near ready to open her heart again, uncertain if she ever will be.
What I’m Watching:
I’m looking forward to watching the eight-episode Netflix series Ripple, which explores how a group of strangers in New York become connected through subtle twists of fate. Have you seen it?

My goodness they are making you wait a long time for the test results of your husband’s tests. I am glad he has space in his life to stay close to home and calm until the results are forthcoming.

Happy Belated Birthday to your mom. I hope your husband gets good cardiac news. Your books look good. I hope you are enjoying them. I haven’t seen Ripple, but that sounds interesting. I’ll have to check it out. Hope you have a great week!

I totally agree with how you’re feeling about your mom. Feeling the same about mine. I worry my mom’s health isn’t getting better and that she’s not doing all that she could be. But she is still grieving for my stepdad I know, so that puts a big hit on how much she does. But I’m glad to have her in my life and happy I get to live close and spend as much time with her as I do. I haven’t heard of Ripple, but that sounds interesting. I might have to check it out. Have a great week!
