It’s time for Who Wears it Better in July 2025? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently.
➡️ I’ve added voting buttons to each of the five challenges, so please cast your votes for all of them and I’ll do the same. I will share the final results in next month’s post. But first, let’s review the results of last month’s battles!

Our July Battles: (Polls close July 31)
Beach House Rules by Kristy Woodson Harvey:

Our first battle this month is for two covers representing different editions of the same book. Both covers depict a picnic on the beach each from a different point of view. I love both of these covers – they are colourful and give me that beach vibe. If I have to choose my choice is the Gallery cover.
Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes:

This battle feature two very different covers by the same publisher. The Original cover is colourful and I love the added whimsy of the lobster. The Read With Jenna version displays a young woman looking out at the sea. The Original design speaks to me more, which is why it’s my top choice.
Happiness For Beginners by Katherine Center:

Our next battle is for two different book covers by the same publisher. Choice #1 is for a woman who is hiking overlooking beautiful scenery from the top of a mountain. Choice #2 is a colourful display of flowers against an orange background. Having read this book, I feel that Choice #1 more clearly fits the synopsis and therefore it is my choice of cover.
Blackberry Summer by RaeAnne Thayne:

This is yet another example of two different covers by the same publisher for the same format. Choice #1 shows blackberry bushes in the foreground with a small town and mountains in the background. Choice #2 shows a boat docked along a lake with mountains in the background. These covers look very peaceful and I’m attracted to both of them. Having said that, Choice #1 shows the blackberry bushes the title suggests and therefore it is my choice of cover for this book.
The Names by Florence Knapp:

Our final battle this month is for two different covers from two different publishers. To give you a bit of context, Goodreads notes that this book follows “three alternate and alternating versions of Cora’s and her young son’s lives…”. The Phoenix cover suggests these three alternate versions in that a solitary figure casts three shadows. The Pamela Dorman cover shows a wildflower in the foreground against a rolling hill. If I’m honest, I’m not really attracted to either of these covers but I do enjoy the beauty of these flowers. However, I like that the Phoenix covers reflects the storyline more and therefore it is my choice of cover for this book.
So there you have it – Who Wears it Better in July 2025? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please vote to let me know! Looking for more covers to compare? Thanks Jonetta!
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I think I disagreed with everyone on the first one because the second choice looks more like the type of books I don’t read, so I picked the first one. I liked the original Evvie Drake one, don’t know why they’d change it. Fun post as always!

I really enjoyed seeing which covers would be featured this month! I had a hard time choosing between ‘The Names’ but ultimately went with the Phoenix cover. I’m looking forward to the results next month. Thanks for sharing these fun posts, Jodie!

Yvonne @ It's All About Books
I chose the same covers as you except for the Happiness For Beginners book… Mostly because I prefer covers without people in it and I do love a colorful cover; that said, it sounds like the first cover does fit the premise better.
