It’s time for Who Wears it Better in May 2025? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently.
➡️ I’ve added voting buttons to each of the five challenges, so please cast your votes for all of them and I’ll do the same. I will share the final results in next month’s post. But first, let’s review the results of last month’s battles!

Our May Battles: (Polls close May 31)
The Page Turner by Viola Shipman:

Our first battle is for a book with two similar covers one representing each of two different publishers/editions. I like them both but my choice is the Graydon House cover for the use of characters on the cover which add a bit more interest.
Out of the Clear Blue Sky by Kristan Higgins:

Once again we have two similar covers representing two different publishers/editions. I like each of these but love that the Berkley cover has an added level of doggy cuteness with the dog looking out over the chair.
The Winemaker’s Wife by Kristin Harmel:

This battle feature two very different covers for the same book based on region. The Gallery cover from the U.S. shows the historical period of the book while the Mountain Leopard Press from the U.K. doesn’t. This one is a tough one for me. I appreciate the U.S. cover for the reason given, but appreciate the beauty of the Mountain Leopard Press cover more and therefore it is my choice of cover.
The Book of Records by Madeleine Thein: 🇨🇦

Here are two very different covers once again from two different publishers/countries. The W.W. Norton & Co is from the U.S. while the Knopf Canada is from, of course, Canada. The book covers the course of several centuries and is set in different locations around the world. If I’m honest, neither of these covers is particularly appealing to me but my choice is the Knopf Canada cover because it more closely reflects the synopsis of the book to me.
The Paris Express by Emma Donoghue:🇨🇦

Our last battle this month features two very different covers from two different publishers. The Picador cover displays a train on the cover while the S&S cover suggests a plush seat. I’m a sucker for a red cover but the Picador cover’s use of the train inspires me to read this book more. Therefore the Picador cover is my choice.
So there you have it – Who Wears it Better in May 2025? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please vote to let me know! Looking for more covers to compare? ER LeVar
The Kristin Higgins book was a hard choice for me, because I like the sea shot of the first cover but you’re right about the doggy cuteness of the other being better!
