You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry

If you’re a fan of  romance involving a friends to lovers trope, look no further.  You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry will capture your heart and keep you laughing throughout its pages.  This is my second book by this author and it definitely will not be my last.

Plot Summary

When Poppy and Alex met at college 12 years ago, they had nothing in common.  In fact, they were pretty certain that they hated each other.  They did not meet again until one year later, when they share a ride home from college.  They hit it off so well on this trip, that they make a pact to have a vacation together each year.

Their vacations together continue each year taking them to places around the world.  The story of their relationship unfolds as each year’s vacation is discussed interchangeably with this year’s vacation.  Recently, however, their  relationship has been strained .  Poppy convinces herself to break their silence and invite Alex on one last vacation that may change their lives forever.

Book Review

This is such a charming story and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.  The characters are interesting, lovable and well developed. Poppy and Alex are different in many ways yet they bring out the best in one another.  The slow burn of this story really allows the reader to become invested in this couple and there were so many laughing out loud moments along the way!  It was fun to accompany them on their holiday adventures and the fact that I’m from BC Canada, made me appreciate their trip to Tofino all the more!

What I Liked About You and Me on Vacation:

• The quirky, lovable characters
• The sense of taking a vacation while reading the book
• The slow burn of a friends to lovers trope well executed.
