Summary:
Christmas in Shelter Springs brings an unexpected second chance for Hannah Goodwin and Wes Kenner, former sweethearts who haven’t seen each other in years. When Hannah steps in to care for her friend Morgan’s children and Wes returns home to help his grandfather, the two are forced back into each other’s lives. As they work together to bring some holiday magic to Morgan and her family, old feelings and painful memories resurface. With Wes and his beloved K9, Kodiak, by her side, Hannah begins to wonder if this Christmas might finally give them both the chance to heal, find forgiveness and rekindle their first love.
My Thoughts:
It was fun to return to RaeAnne Thayne’s Shelter Springs series with Cozy Little Christmas. For anyone who hasn’t read the previous books, though, this one can easily be read as a standalone. It’s a sweet, festive romance filled with small-town charm, holiday feels and a wonderful message about the importance of friendship, kindness and giving to others.
Hannah Goodwin is a music therapist with a big heart, and when her friend Morgan needs to travel to a city far from home for cancer treatment, Hannah doesn’t hesitate to step in and care for her children. With Christmas approaching, she is determined to make the holiday as special as possible for them, and I loved seeing the effort she puts into creating some much-needed magic. I also really enjoyed the relationship that develops between Hannah, Wes and the children. Their time together brings a warmth to the story that goes beyond the romance.
Caring for Morgan’s children also means Hannah is reunited with Wes Kenner, the man she dated more than a decade ago. Wes has returned to Shelter Springs for the holidays, accompanied by his beloved K9, Kodiak, and their reunion is anything but simple. Their relationship ended abruptly in the past, leaving Hannah understandably reluctant to open that door again. But as she learns more about what Wes has experienced and sees his genuine desire to help others, she begins to see him in a different light. I enjoyed watching those old feelings resurface and seeing whether these two could find their way back to each other.
I particularly enjoyed the second-chance romance and the small-town setting, but it was the spirit of giving that ultimately won me over. Cozy Little Christmas is a beautiful, uplifting story that captures the warmth of the season and reminds us that sometimes the greatest gifts are the ones we give to others. It was a lovely addition to the Shelter Springs series and a festive read for anyone looking for a feel-good Christmas romance.
The Narration:
I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Carly Robins, and enjoyed her performance. She has a lovely tone and did a great job bringing this heartwarming story to life. I would definitely recommend the audiobook to anyone who enjoys listening to their books.
Final Thoughts:
Cozy Little Christmas is a heartwarming holiday romance that delivers plenty of Christmas magic, second-chance romance and small-town charm. I especially loved its message about the joy of giving and the difference a little kindness can make, making this a lovely choice for a festive, feel-good read.
