Falling For Peachtree Bluff by Kristy Woodson Harvey Review: A Cozy Return to Family, Romance & Southern Charm

Falling For Peachtree Bluff brings family, romance, small-town charm and plenty of autumn feels as the Murphy women face life’s changes.

Summary:

As autumn settles over Peachtree Bluff, the Murphy women find their lives anything but calm: youngest sister Emerson is planning her dream wedding to Kyle while quietly struggling with challenges that dim her joy; pregnant middle sister Sloane watches her and Adam’s dream home spiral into a costly, stressful mess; and ever-reliable eldest sister Caroline is torn between a swoon-worthy new costar and her not-quite-ex-husband’s plea for another chance. My Thoughts:

I was so excited to see that Kristy Woodson Harvey was returning to Peachtree Bluff with another book in this series, especially because I have loved each of the previous books. Falling For Peachtree Bluff did not disappoint! It was wonderful to catch up with the Murphy family again, and this book gave me all the autumn cozy feels. While this can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the earlier books first. You’ll certainly be able to follow along without them, but knowing the characters’ histories and seeing how their relationships have developed over the course of the series made my experience that much more enjoyable.

At the heart of this story is the Murphy women and the incredible bond they share. Their relationships aren’t perfect, and their lives certainly don’t always go according to plan, but I love how they continue to stay connected despite sometimes being separated by distance. They are always there for one another when it matters most. There’s plenty happening this time around, including a wedding, the arrival of a new baby, pregnancies, a new romance, and plenty of family drama. Ansley also finds herself facing the possibility of leaving her beloved Peachtree Bluff, something she absolutely cannot imagine. I loved seeing all of these storylines unfold while spending time with characters who feel like old friends.

The small-town Southern charm that I enjoyed so much in the earlier books is once again woven throughout the story. Harvey embraces the traditions and character of the region, and I especially enjoyed those details that give Peachtree Bluff such a distinct sense of place. There’s something wonderfully comforting about returning to a familiar fictional town where family, friendship and community are such an important part of the story.

The Audiobook:

I listened to the audiobook, which was performed by an ensemble cast, and I absolutely loved this format. I always appreciate an ensemble narration because the different voices make it much easier to follow when the story moves between characters’ points of view. The narrators captured the Southern setting beautifully, with accents and voices that suited each of the women, including Ansley’s granddaughter. It really brought the Murphy family and Peachtree Bluff to life, and I highly recommend experiencing this one in audio.

Final Thoughts:

Falling For Peachtree Bluff was exactly the kind of warm, emotional and comforting return to a beloved fictional family that I was hoping for. If you enjoy stories about complicated families, strong sisterly bonds, romance and charming small towns, this is a lovely addition to the series.
