Summary of Synopsis:

My Thoughts:

There are certain authors whose books I never hesitate to pick up, and Kristin Harmel is one of them. Her novels are always filled with compassion, hope, and memorable characters navigating life’s most difficult moments. Meet Me in Paris is no exception, blending multiple interconnected stories into a moving novel that celebrates love in all its forms against the unforgettable backdrop of Paris.

The story follows several characters whose lives intersect over the course of one week in the City of Light. Julia, who is terminally ill, embarks on one final trip to Paris with her daughter, Piper, determined to create lasting memories together. A World War II veteran returns to the city in search of the woman who inspired the love song he has carried with him for eighty years, hoping music can awaken memories long thought lost. Meanwhile, a recently divorced woman arrives in Paris with her closest friends, wondering what her next chapter might hold. Each storyline is unique, emotionally rich, and equally compelling, weaving together into a satisfying and heartfelt whole.

As always, Kristin Harmel’s love for Paris shines through every page. She brings the city’s streets, cafés, and iconic landmarks vividly to life, making me feel as though I was walking alongside the characters. Having been fortunate enough to visit Paris myself, I loved revisiting the city through her writing and was reminded why it’s a place I’d happily return to again and again.

I also appreciated the historical fiction elements woven throughout the novel, particularly the World War II storyline, which added emotional depth and reminded me why I enjoy Harmel’s books so much. Be sure to read the author’s note at the end—it provides wonderful insight into the inspiration behind the story and adds another meaningful layer to the novel.

The Narration:

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Madeleine Maby, and it was a fantastic performance. She effortlessly brings each character to life, convincingly portraying voices across different ages and genders. I especially loved the warmth and softness she brought to the older couple’s storyline, delivering their scenes with the same tenderness and respect that Kristin Harmel writes so beautifully.

If you enjoy emotionally layered stories, unforgettable settings, and novels that celebrate enduring love, family, friendship, and second chances, Meet Me in Paris is another wonderful read from Kristin Harmel.
