Summary:
Lauren lands the opportunity of a lifetime when she’s chosen to lead Nantucket Influence, a new reality show following a group of young influencers spending the summer in a stunning waterfront home. The job promises a major career breakthrough—except one of the cast members is Billy, the ex who once betrayed her, forcing Lauren to decide whether professional ambition is worth daily proximity to heartbreak. As filming begins, she grows close to Hudson, a Nantucket production company owner and friend of Billy’s, despite knowing their connection has an expiration date once she returns to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, her college friend Angela reconnects with exciting personal news, and local rivalries heat up when innkeeper Lisa takes on her nemesis Violet in a spirited lobster quiche showdown at the island’s food festival, adding small-town drama to an already unforgettable summer.
My Thoughts:
It’s always a pleasure to return to Nantucket, and Nantucket Summer House once again reminded me why this series brings me so much joy. Although this is the ninth instalment, it works beautifully as a standalone, making it easy for new readers to jump in while longtime fans enjoy revisiting familiar characters and settings.
This time, the world of reality television arrives on the island as Lauren lands the opportunity of a lifetime producing Nantucket Influence, a reality show following a group of young influencers living together in a stunning waterfront home. The job should be her big career breakthrough—except one of the cast members is Billy, the ex-boyfriend she caught cheating on her. Watching Lauren balance professional ambition with lingering personal history adds tension and emotional depth to the story. Over the course of the summer, her focus shifts beyond work when she develops a connection with Hudson, Billy’s friend and a local production company owner. Their romance feels genuine and heartfelt, even as Lauren knows her future likely lies back in Los Angeles once filming wraps.
Alongside Lauren’s storyline, readers reconnect with beloved Nantucket residents. Her college friend Angela brings exciting personal news, while Lisa, owner of the Nantucket Inn, once again faces off against her rival Violet—this time in a lively lobster quiche competition at the local food festival. These smaller community storylines are part of what makes the series feel so comforting and immersive.
I especially enjoyed the multiple romances woven throughout the novel, including those unfolding inside the Nantucket Influence house itself. But as always, the true standout for me is Pamela Kelley’s vivid portrayal of Nantucket—the restaurants, bars, coastal atmosphere, and mouthwatering food descriptions that make you feel as though you’re spending the summer right alongside the characters. By the final page, I was already wishing I could book a trip (and order everything on the menu).
The Narration:
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Leslie Howard and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Her smooth, conversational style made for an easy and engaging listen.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, Nantucket Summer House is a charming, feel-good escape filled with romance, friendship, and the irresistible magic of summer on Nantucket. Knowing there’s a tenth book planned for release in June makes me very happy, and I’m already looking forward to returning to Nantucket again this summer.
