My Week:
Aside from Friday and Saturday this week, it has been decidedly cooler this week. And we’ve had rain in Vancouver. That said, the rest of the province has not received as much rain and lightening strikes have caused some new fires. We feel it in our air quality. A few more weeks of calm winds, cooler temperatures and rain should improve the situation.
I did over 23000 steps on Tuesday ( my usual is around 11000-12000 daily) as I did my normal walks and then met up with friends to walk. I also spent some time shopping this week to grab a few things for our upcoming trip. The gardens are definitely winding down now but I do have some beautiful late summer bloomers like my hardy hibiscus with flowers the size of dinner plates!

Back in January 2021, I read and reviewed ‘Guiding Emily’ by Barbara Hinske. I was moved by this book and loved that it balanced the perspective of a woman who goes blind with the perspective of her guide dog. The book has now been turned into a movie which airs on the W Network in Canada on September 8. It’s a Hallmark production so I would expect to find it on the Hallmark U.S. channel as well. It stars Sarah Drew (from Grey’s Anatomy) and Eric McCormack (Will & Grace). Here’s the trailer:

Canadian winters vary widely particularly since the country is so vast. I live in the area in the country that gets the mildest of winters. We are really seeing the impact of climate change so who knows how mild our winter will be. Thanks for reading Jamie.

Thanks Shelleyrae! I can tell you’re in the southern hemisphere as we’re going into Fall not Spring! I enjoy Christmas books anytime from September to December ☺️ but I know not everyone does.

Glad to hear that things are becoming a bit cooler – let’s hope it’s enough to put out there terrible fires… My hibiscus bush is also smothered in blossom – though these are the smaller variety. Anne - Books of My Heart
I really enjoyed The Honeymoon Crashers on audio. Although it is shorter in length, it has a full cast narration. I wish for our cooler September air to get here. It looks like we will get it after the HOT week ahead. That’s a lot of steps! I’ve only gotten into the teens on a walking vacation like NYC.

I sure hope the rest of the province gets some rain soon. Wow 23,000 steps is awesome. I think my best day was 19,000 and that was unusual. I loved the Christmas Dess and hope you do too Jodie. Have a wonderful week.
