My Week:
This week felt much more normal, and I’m slowly settling back into a routine. My Dad’s memorial service was beautiful, and it was wonderful to reconnect with so many relatives I don’t get to see often. The weather has been a mix of sun and showers, but the forecast promises brighter, drier days ahead. I’ve started reading some holiday books and feel more able to focus on my audiobooks now. If you’re interested in joining the 2025 Christmas Reading Challenge at some point this fall, you can find more information Here. I’m also easing back into my regular exercise routine—beyond the walking I’d been doing these past few weeks. The house is decorated for fall, which makes everything feel cozier. Do you decorate for fall?
Books I’ve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, & Libro.fm:
🇨🇦 Ruby Dhanji lives for Christmas and all things British, and she’s determined to honour her late mother’s dream by moving to England and opening a cozy inn—but first she needs hotel experience. Enter Rashid, a holiday skeptic whose family owns a boutique hotel chain in the UK. When he helps Ruby haul home a Christmas tree, their paths intertwine: Ruby agrees to bring holiday magic to his young nieces if he’ll connect her with his family. As their unlikely friendship deepens into romance, Ruby discovers Rashid’s hidden warmth beneath his grumpy exterior, but with her move to England fast approaching, she must decide whether to follow her long-held dream or take a chance on unexpected love. Thanks to Hachette Audio and Netgalley for this ARC.
B.K. Borison delivers a whimsical holiday romance where Ghost of Christmas Past Nolan Callahan expects nothing more than another routine haunting—until he meets Harriet York, a kindhearted people-pleaser whose past is more entwined with his own than either of them could have imagined. As Nolan guides Harriet through her memories, their unexpected connection deepens, forcing them to question what it means to move on, and whether love can bridge the divide between past and future. With Christmas Eve fast approaching, they must decide if their destinies lie in letting go—or in embracing the magic they’ve found together. Filled with cozy charm, humour, and heartfelt holiday spirit, Good Spirits is Borison’s most swoon-worthy romance yet. Thanks to Avon and Libro.fm for this ALC.

That’s a wrap on The Weekend Post #175. How was your week?
I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Patricia in New Mexico
My deepest condolences on your precious Dad’s passing. My own Daddy passed in August and the pain is still raw. I’m glad you’re seeking routine…it helps. Hugs to you!
I do decorate for fall and am looking forward to doing so next week. Our temps still feel like summerd, but, like you, I love the coziness of fall decor. It appears you enjoy romance novels. They are indeed happy reads.

Hugs back to you Patricia. Routine definitely helps me.
Trish
So glad your dad’s service went well. I am halfway through season 1 of Doc and like it a lot.

Thank you Trish. I’m glad you are enjoying it.
Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
Wonderful that your father’s service was so uplifting, Jodie💜
I got Good Spirirs, too, and can’t wait to listen to it. Loving the new season of The Voice, too.

I hope that we both enjoy it Jonetta.
Cindy's Book Corner
We are still watching old seasons of The Amazing Race. I am glad your dad’s service went well. And, yay for getting back into routines and exercising. I have been sick for almost 2 weeks, and I am just now starting to try and get back into them again as well. I walked this morning, but not near as long as I would normally, and it wiped me out, but something is better than nothing. I hope you have a great week!
thathappyreader
Being sick really does wipe you out. Good for you to try and get back to doing normal things Cindy.

So glad that your dad had a nice service.
Spending time with family is important. I used to see all my aunts, uncles, cousins etc. every year but it’s been a while since I moved to Florida.

I’m sure you are missing them Vicki.
Becki
Those sound like good holiday books! Today we’re celebrating my son’s birthday, but then I’ll be ready to bring out some Halloween decorations 🙂

That’s fun Becki! My son’s birthday is later this month as is my hubby’s.
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out

Anne - Books of My Heart
Lovely you got to spend time with other relatives. I think about decorating for different seasons but never do it. It sound nice but I don’t like extra stuff. My daughter does it for our Christmas and she’s good at it.

It’s not for everyone Anne. I only do Fall and Christmas.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
The family time at memorials like that make it so bittersweet. It’s great seeing people you rarely get to see, just hate that it is for such a reason. I’m glad you were able to enjoy spending that time with family. I have an e-galley of the BK Borison book that I’ll be reading soon. And the author has a stop on their tour in my town, so I can’t wait to meet them. I hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
Thanks Lisa.
hena
So sorry to hear about you dad. My deepest condolences.

Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
Oh Jody, I’m so sorry about the loss of your father. I hadn’t been reading blogs while away. I’m glad the service went well. Getting into a routine will help you, but the memories will sneak in and the eyes will leak. I hope your Christmas stories will give you a lift. I have joined the challenge and posted my list yesterday when I got home.
thathappyreader
Thanks Carla. I will add you to the challenge.
Corinne
Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Much love!
