My Week:
This week was all about getting our gardens ready for winter. With overnight temperatures dipping to 3°C (37°F) and crisp, clear days in between, it felt like the perfect time to clear out the annuals and plant the spring-flowering bulbs. My sister and I also tackled the same job at my momās placeāsheās been eager to get into the garden herself but canāt because of her ongoing back issues. On the home front, the snow tires are on, and the windows (tracks included!) are sparkling clean inside and out. A busy but wonderfully productive week!
Books Iāve Added to My Shelves This Week:
From Publishers, Netgalley, & Libro.fm: None that I have accepted.
From The Library:

Gone Before Goodbye follows Maggie McCabe, a brilliant but disgraced Army combat surgeon whose career unravels after personal tragedy strips her of her medical license. At rock bottom, she accepts a risky offer from a former colleague to treat one of the worldās most secretive and powerful men, deep inside a world of wealth, technology, and shadows. But when her patient vanishes under mysterious circumstances, Maggie finds herself ensnared in a deadly conspiracy among the global eliteāa web she unknowingly helped create. To survive, she must confront her past, outwit forces far greater than herself, and uncover a truth that could cost her everything.

Laura and Callum have crossed paths three timesāthough neither remembers the first two until a hilariously awkward third encounter leaves them both unforgettable. When Callumās parents mistake Laura for his girlfriend, she agrees to keep up the charade and spends Christmas with his family in the Scottish Highlands. But things get even more complicated when Lauraās friends arrive posing as her family, Callumās ex joins the festivities, and the line between fake romance and real feelings blurs as sparks fly between Laura and Callum.

What Iām Watching:
Hallmarkās Countdown to Christmas began on Friday night, and it fills me with such joy. I realize it might seem early to dive into holiday movies for some of you, but in a world overflowing with hardship and sad news, spending a couple of hours lost in the warmth of a Christmas story feels like a small act of hope.

I’m glad you get so much joy from Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas.
How fun it must be to plant bulbs now that will bloom next spring!

Nope, I have already started reading Christmas books. Normally in October I am reading a lot of suspense, I don’t think I’ve read much, or any yet this month. I don’t have Hallmark or I would be tempted to watch too much TV. Have a great weekend!

You too Cindy.
Emily @ Budget Tales Book Blog
Sounds like you are well prepared. It’s still quite warm here (UK) but the mornings are darker and the leaves are falling from the trees.
I love a Christmas film. I will try and hold out until after Halloween however the kids have found Christmas episodes of TV programmes that they like so we have been watching them š
Have a great weekend!

It’s been so unseasonably warm here we’ve hoped that maybe they could go ahead and get the sod down at my mom’s new house before she moves in, so she can take her dog outside instead of having to buy some astroturf for the winter and worry about mud. But the temps are dropping a bit this week, so it might not happen. Sounds like a good week for you! Christmas Fling sounds right up my alley! Hope you enjoy it.
thathappyreader
Thanks Lisa! I hope you can get the sod in!
Sarah
Crickey! With those temperatures I’d be putting my garden to bed for the winter, too. Right now, though our temperatures are in the mid-60s during the day and dropping down to the high 50s at night. I haven’t put our heating on yet this year. Have a good week.

Enjoy the warmth Sarah!
Anne - Books of My Heart
yes I’d be finishing up the garden now or end of September when I lived in Minnesota. But here in North Carolina, we’re starting the third season and I have newer planted lettuce and chard, with tomatoes, peppers, basil and more herbs still producing. Great work you did this week with all the winter prep. I’ve started dealing with leaves though.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
