My Week:
Summer weather continues here, with no rain over the past week and none in the forecast—not what we need given the ongoing drought conditions. It’s hard to believe we live in a rainforest. With a strong El Niño predicted for this winter, we’re not expecting the snowpack needed to replenish our water reservoirs.
We’ve been watching Team Canada play in the World Cup in Vancouver and are incredibly proud of how they’re doing. The city is buzzing with excitement. On Thursday, Canada earned its first-ever World Cup victory with an impressive 6–0 win over Qatar. Unfortunately, one of our players suffered a devastating injury, and I’m hoping it doesn’t end his career.
I also lost my uncle this week. We visited him a few weeks ago, and I’m so grateful we had that opportunity. While I’ll miss him, I’m glad he’s no longer suffering. I like to imagine that he and Dad are together again, playing a game of crib and sharing old memories.

From Publishers, Netgalley or Libro.fm:

Ten years after her sister Georgia’s mysterious death at a Hollywood party, aspiring singer-actress Scout Sage has spent her life chasing fame and justice while navigating the ruthless world of celebrity ambition. But when a string of murders across Los Angeles appears to implicate her, Scout is suddenly transformed from a struggling pop star into the center of a sensational criminal investigation that threatens everything she’s built. As she fights to clear her name, the young detective assigned to the case uncovers shocking secrets linking Georgia’s death to a long-hidden pattern of crimes buried deep within Hollywood, exposing a dark legacy that could ignite a massive reckoning within the entertainment industry. After the death of Babe—the magnetic but complicated woman who defined their teenage summers—four estranged friends reunite on Mercy Island, a quiet, storm-swept stretch of coastal Georgia, for the reading of her will. Returning to the faded pink house forces Didion and the others to confront long-buried tensions, unresolved attraction, and the painful history that once bound them together before tearing them apart. What begins as an awkward reunion weekend takes a surreal turn when they wake up to discover they’re reliving the same Saturday over and over again. Trapped in an endless time loop with no explanation, the friends must face old betrayals, heartbreak, and hidden truths, realizing that this repeating weekend may be their only chance to heal the past—and possibly save themselves. From The Library:

After her glamorous Manhattan life unravels when her husband’s affair ends their marriage and their finances collapse, Claire Shipman returns to her hometown of Nantucket as a newly single mom—pregnant, heartbroken, and searching for stability. Welcomed home by her supportive mother and reunited with longtime friends, Claire begins rebuilding her life with the encouragement of her book club and launches a boutique called Nantucket Second Chances, selling designer fashions and curated tourist finds inspired by her former career as a fashion journalist. As she navigates motherhood, friendship, and the uncertainty of starting over, Claire finds comfort in the island’s close-knit community and discovers the possibility of new love with her landlord, Cody, proving that Nantucket may be the perfect place for healing, fresh beginnings, and unexpected second chances.
What I’m Watching:
I’m looking forward to watching Voicemails for Isabelle on Netflix—it dropped on June 19. It’s a romantic comedy filmed here in Vancouver about a woman who leaves voice messages for her late sister, sharing all the chaos of her life in San Francisco. It sounds both heartfelt and funny. Does it sound like something you’d enjoy watching too?
