My Week:
It’s been a lovely week. We escaped to Victoria for three nights and had a wonderful time. We did plenty of walking, enjoyed delicious food on sunny patios, and took in the beauty of the harbour. I especially admired the gorgeous hanging baskets adorning nearly every lamppost throughout the area—they added such a cheerful touch.
We also took a narrated harbour cruise on a little “pickle” boat and learned about the history of the buildings and different neighbourhoods along the coastline. One of our favourite things to do was simply grab a coffee and watch the seaplanes taking off and landing in the harbour. There was something wonderfully relaxing about just sitting there and taking it all in.
It’s amazing how restorative getting away from it all for a few days can truly be. Adding even more positivity to our getaway, we also learned that my hubby’s CT scan was “okay.” While he’s still awaiting his cardiac MRI and an appointment with the electrophysiologist, we’re relieved that this first scan came back without anything nefarious.
All in all, it was a lovely little escape—and a much-needed reminder of how good it is to slow down, enjoy the moment, and appreciate the good news when it comes our way.

Recent Additions To My Bookshelf:
Invitation From Author:

At their twenty-fifth high school reunion, former best friends Audrey, Micah, Jasmine, and Beck reunite after decades apart, forced to confront how far their lives have drifted from the dreams they once carefully planned together. Known in high school as the “Core Four,” their tight bond fractured after a tragic accident on graduation night, leaving unresolved hurt and silence that lingered for years. Now adults facing stalled careers, complicated relationships, outspoken children, and long-buried secrets, the reunion becomes especially urgent when one of them receives a diagnosis of early-onset dementia. Over the course of one emotional weekend, the friends must reckon with their shared past, rediscover the meaning of loyalty and forgiveness, and decide whether their friendship still has the power to reshape their futures. I gratefully accepted the author’s offer to listen to this audiobook which publishes September 15.
From The Library:

🇨🇦 After losing both the promotion she was counting on and her job in a single disastrous day, Mona finds herself stuck in her tiny, rundown apartment with no clear path forward. When her eccentric landlady is injured, Mona reluctantly agrees to become the building’s temporary superintendent in exchange for a chance at a better apartment, but the quirky and demanding residents—including a feuding couple, a mysterious recluse, a suspected laundry-room thief, and a relentlessly optimistic diner owner—draw her into a surprising sense of community. As she helps prepare the building for sale, Mona discovers that starting over sometimes means embracing the people and place she was so desperate to leave, in this warm, funny novel about burnout, second chances, and finding where you truly belong.

Meanwhile, her friend Tilda is unexpectedly reunited with a charming man from her past, the man she once fell for and hasn’t seen in years.
