My Week:
Just a gentle reminder that the officiall start of the 2026 Christmas Reading Challenge is October 1 (although you can begin at any time). If you’d like to have a link to your post introducing the challenge please let me know on the challenge post so I can add you in.
Fall has brought with it mild temperatures, but for the most part, the weather has been dry. The grass is still mainly brown, with just a few tufts of green scattered throughout. We’ve never had a summer when we couldn’t water our lawns at all, and with so little rain, I’m beginning to wonder if they’re going to come back at all. Hopefully, once the rainy season arrives, our lawns will start turning green again.
On Sunday, we took Mom to the Emergency Room as she has been suffering miserably with back and sciatic pain for the past week. We weren’t sure if she had developed another fracture and wanted some guidance on stretches she could safely do to help relieve some of the pain and discomfort. The E.R. was very busy, but she was X-rayed and had seen the doctor within about 5½ hours. We were relieved to find out that there was no new fracture. She is still dealing with a lot of pain, and it’s very hard to see her unable to do the things she loves. Hopefully, she’ll soon get permission to start physiotherapy, although with her osteoporosis, we need to be mindful of not overdoing it.
On Monday, I had a long lunch with a friend I went to nursing school with, and it was so much fun catching up. On Thursday, we took our son in for a medical procedure, as he wasn’t permitted to drive himself home afterward.

I watched the season premieres for Best Medicine, The Voice and Doc this week. It’s nice to be back to some regular programming.
