This Book Made Me Think of You is a tender story of grief, healing, and hope as twelve books guide Tilly toward finding joy in life once again.

Length: ~10 hours.
Narrator: Zadeiah Campbell-Davies.
Genre: Women’s Fiction

Summary:
After losing her husband Joe, Tilly Nightingale is stunned to discover a final birthday gift he arranged before his death: twelve carefully chosen books, one for each month, designed to guide her through her first year of grief. As Tilly reluctantly begins to read again, each story carries her to new places around the world—from New York and Paris to Tuscany and Bali—while gently helping her rediscover herself beyond her loss. With the quiet support of bookshop owner Alfie, Tilly learns how stories can heal, opening the door to hope, renewal, and the possibility of loving again.
My Thoughts:
From the very first chapter of This Book Made Me Think of You , I had a feeling this would be a story I’d truly love—and it absolutely was. This tender, heartfelt novel follows Tilly Nightingale as she navigates life after the loss of her beloved husband, Joe, and I was immediately drawn into her quiet, emotional journey. Five months into her grief, having already faced milestones like her first Christmas without him, Tilly can’t imagine finding joy in the things she once loved, especially reading.
So when she receives a call from a kind-eyed bookshop owner, Alfie, telling her Joe left her a final birthday gift—twelve books and handwritten letters, one for each month of the coming year—it feels both impossible and deeply touching. Watching Tilly slowly rediscover her love of stories, and with it her sense of self, was incredibly moving. Each book gently nudges her beyond her comfort zone, leading her toward growth, connection, and the possibility of new beginnings, supported all the while by her sister and her growing friendship with Alfie. Page writes Tilly’s journey with such compassion and respect that it feels authentic rather than sentimental, and it was a joy to witness her courage unfold.
The Narration:
I listened to the audiobook, beautifully narrated by Zadeiah Campbell-Davies, whose warm, expressive performance added even more depth and emotion to an already wonderful story.
Final Thoughts:
This is the kind of novel that gently reminds you how healing stories—and kindness—can appear when you need them most. I highly recommend This Book Made Me Think of You.

Great review, Jodie! I am in que for it in the library system, but now there are only two people still in front of me. I am looking forward to reading this one, but I am hoping it’s not too heavy on the grief (only because I am trying to avoid super heavy books right now).

I didn’t find it too heavy Cindy despite my recent loss.

Excellent review, Jodie. I loved this one as well and it will be in my top books for 2026. I was a bit worried before I started this one. Even though my husband has been gone for 9 years, grief still sneaks up on me. I had no issues reading this one.
