It’s time for Who Wears it Better in April 2026? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book.  In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK).  Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently.  I’ll tell you what my choice is, so vote and let me know what your choice is!
But first, let’s review the results of last month’s battles:

Now onto:
Our April Battles (polls closed).
The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout:

Thanks to Jamie for requesting this battle.
In our first Cover Battle of the month, we’re featuring a soon-to-be-published novel by Elizabeth Strout, released with two different covers for different regions. I haven’t read the book yet, so my choice is based purely on aesthetics. I’m drawn to the U.S. cover—not only because of its beautiful blue tones, but also because of the font design, which really appeals to me.
Mistakes Were Made by Lucy Score:

Thanks to Jamie for requesting this battle.
Our next battle features two covers from different regions for the same book. This one is a bit more difficult for me because I’m drawn to both designs. If I had to choose just one, though, I’d go with the U.K. cover — I prefer the pink over the yellow, and I especially love the woman at the window.
The Truth About Ruby Cooper by Liz Nugent:

Thanks to Jamie for requesting this battle.
In this regional battle of the covers, we’re treated to two very different designs. I love the colour palettes used in both editions, but my pick is the U.K. cover—it beautifully captures the essence of the title character.
The Midnight Train by Matt Haig:

In our fourth battle, we once again have regional editions going head-to-head. The covers couldn’t be more different, but this round goes to the U.K. cover—it’s my clear favourite.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt:

Our final battle of the month showcases two covers representing different regions. This was a tough decision since I appreciate both designs. However, if I had to select a winner, I’d go with the U.S. cover—the background adds a stronger sense of visual interest.
So there you have it – Who Wears it Better in April 2026? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please vote to let me know! Do you have a cover you’d like me to feature in an upcoming battle? Let me know in the comments.Â

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the U.K. cover for Remarkably Bright Creatures before, even though that book is so popular. I really do prefer the U.S. cover for that one, but I’m pretty split down the middle for the rest. Looking forward to seeing the results!

Favor to ask – could you put the ballot above your comments? Then I can choose what I like first and then read about what you like. I won’t be as influenced by your thoughts.
Thanks!

Great suggestion! I will do that.

Such a great line-up! I picked the same covers except for The Midnight Train (I do love the UK cover as well though).
