It’s time for Who Wears it Better in May 2026? In this feature, I look at different book covers used for the same book. In some cases, the cover is chosen by geography (e.g. North America or UK). Other times, it’s based on the edition of the book (hardcover, paperback, kindle etc). Where it becomes confusing is when the book is given a completely different title! Just for fun, and because I love talking books, let’s see what different books covers I’ve noticed recently. I’ll tell you what my choice is, so vote and let me know what your choice is! I had a request to have my comments after each individual poll so as not to influence the voter so you will notice this change. You will also notice that once again I’ve had to change my poll plug-in. The one I was previously using was no longer free to use.
Let’s review the results of last month’s battles:

Now onto:
Our May Battles (Polls are now closed):

Thank you to Jamie for requesting the first three battles.
In our first battle this month, we’re comparing two regional covers. While neither design is particularly striking, I prefer the U.K. cover because the curved building adds a more interesting visual element.
It Could Have Been Her by Lisa Jewell:

I find both covers very appealing, but the U.K. edition captures the sense of suspense I’m looking for.
This Story Might Save Your Life by Tiffany Crum:

This battle features two covers that are very different from one another. Although I prefer the colour palette of the U.S. cover, I appreciate that the U.K. edition includes the phrase “So Listen Closely” on the design. For that reason, the U.K. cover is my choice.
Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke:

Our next battle features two very different covers, each offering its own interpretation of historical fiction. Since I’m not particularly fond of designs with a torn or distressed look, my choice for this round is the U.S. cover.
Upward Bound by Woody Brown:

Our final battle this month features two fairly similar covers. While the colours, fonts, and the central image on the U.K. cover differ, my decision ultimately came down to colour preference. I chose the U.S. cover.
So there you have it – Who Wears it Better in May 2026? I’d love to know which covers you prefer, so please vote to let me know! Do you have a cover you’d like me to feature in an upcoming battle? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks Jonetta!

Some interesting covers! My choices usually have to do with the colors or images. But sometimes the images are too similar to others. For instance, I loved the colors of the US It Could Have Been Her, so I picked it, but I do agree that the other cover probably gives more to what the book is about. Thanks for doing this fun post every month!
