Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club (Hello Sunshine)’s pick for July 2026:
Founded in 2017, Hello Sunshine always chooses books with women at the centre of the story. Their website notes “We make our choices thoughtfully and look for ways to deepen our connection to books, authors and ourselves”. This book club chose “A Founding Mother” by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie as their July 2026 pick.
Set against the birth of the United States, A Founding Mother is a sweeping historical novel that follows Abigail Adams as she emerges from the shadows of history to become a driving force behind the early republic. While her husband, John Adams, helps build a new nation, Abigail manages their family, finances, and farm through war, hardship, and loss, offering fearless political counsel and championing the rights of women. From revolutionary Boston to the diplomatic courts of Europe and the halls of America’s first capital, she proves herself an indispensable partner, strategist, and trailblazer whose intelligence, resilience, and vision helped shape both her family and the nation, leaving a legacy that remains deeply relevant today.
Good Morning America’s Book Club’s pick:
The GMA Book Club is officially called “Cover to Cover” and was started in the Fall of 2019. Their selections highlight diversity and books are chosen from both fiction and non-fiction genres. The book club chose “Country People” by Daniel Mason as their July 2026 pick.
Miles Krzelewski, a devoted husband and father who is years behind on his PhD in Russian folktales and struggling with feelings of failure, sees a fresh start when his wife accepts a visiting professorship in the forests of Vermont. There, his curious nature draws him into an eccentric community of unforgettable characters and the mysteries of the surrounding woods, where an improbable local legend begins to seem unsettlingly real. Blending humor, wonder, and heart, Country People is a life-affirming novel about marriage, parenthood, belief, storytelling, and the unexpected connections that help us navigate a fractured world.
Read With Jenna (Jenna Bush Hager)’s pick:
In March 2019, the former First Daughter announced her book club on the Today show. Each month she chooses a book that is sure to generate discussion. Jenna chose “The Shampoo Effect” by Jenny Jackson as her July 2026 pick.
When Caroline Lash falls for lifelong Greenhead local Van Whittaker, she is swept into his close-knit circle of childhood friends and their idyllic coastal life of beach days, houseboat parties, and family traditions. But when Van’s ex-girlfriend Bailey becomes pregnant with his child, the group’s fragile dynamics unravel, leaving Caroline isolated and heartbroken. As buried secrets come to light and tensions engulf the small town, The Shampoo Effect delivers a witty, emotionally sharp exploration of friendship, love, betrayal, and the messy transition into midlife.
Oprah’s Book Club:
Oprah Winfrey started this book club in 1996 as a segment on her TV show. Many obscure titles have risen to bestseller status as a result of her picks. This book club does not choose books on a monthly basis but Oprah’s latest pick is “Little Wonder” by Sophie Chen Keller.
When Song, a struggling food delivery worker from northeastern China, loses her musically gifted son, River, in the chaos of a crowded Beijing train station, their lives are forever changed. Separated for years, mother and son each navigate hardship, loss, and hope while searching for a way back to one another. Little Wonder is a moving and uplifting novel about the enduring bond between parent and child, the transformative power of music, and the resilience of the human spirit.
