Welcome to The Weekend Post #191! The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme. I will also be joining Deb at Readerbuzz for the Sunday Salon.
My Week:
It’s been another lovely week of weather here in Vancouver. Overnight temperatures have dipped just below freezing, but the days have been sunny and pleasantly mild. I know that many parts of Canada and the U.S. are experiencing much colder and hazardous conditions. Please stay safe.
My hubby has received the results from his initial tests and is now awaiting an echocardiogram and a cardiology consult. In the meantime, our family doctor has started him on a beta blocker to help ease his symptoms. I had my annual bloodwork done this week and will follow up with my doctor next week. My own echocardiogram is scheduled for March, with a cardiologist appointment later that month. I don’t have any cardiac symptoms, but the cardiologist is monitoring something that appeared on last year’s echocardiogram during screening for Mom’s condition. For now, we’re staying close to home until my hubby is feeling better.

From The Library:

When Shannon gets engaged, she hesitates to share the news with her mother, Cindy, who is planning her own wedding and dreaming of a double celebration, while Victoria, a rebellious stuntwoman, returns home after an accident to a strained relationship with her proper mother, Ava. Fate brings the four women together at a wedding venue, where a long-buried secret is revealed: as a teenager, Cindy nearly gave her baby up for adoption to Ava before changing her mind, a decision that left Ava heartbroken and unable to bond with the daughter she later adopted. As Shannon and Victoria confront the truth of their intertwined pasts, they must grapple with how their mothers’ choices shaped their lives—and who they might have been had things turned out differently.

That’s a wrap on The Weekend Post #191. How was your week?
I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
Glad you’re making progress with your husband’s situation. Stay safe in this weather, Jodie💜
thathappyreader
Thanks Jonetta. Our weather is fine – we are not affected by the large storm.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
I hope that all continues to move forward well with your husband’s health and your own health.
I tried one episode of The Pitt, and while it felt very realistic, it also felt very bleak. I wonder if you have watched it since you like medical dramas.
thathappyreader
I would like to Deb but the streaming service to watch it is too expensive to warrant it.
Rolé @ Hooked By That Book
I found Otherwise Engaged to be an okay read. Wasn’t bad, just not that great. Hope you enjoy it.
thathappyreader
Thanks Rolé.
Cindy's Book Corner
Seeing your upcoming posts reminded me that January is almost over! Not sure how that is possible. We are supposed to get a lot of snow this weekend, but we have no idea how much. I hope your husband is feeling better soon. Have a great week!
thathappyreader
Thank you Cindy. Stay safe.
Sarah
Thinking of both you and your husband and hoping both medical conditions turn out to be relatively minor and easily treatable, Jodie. Glad your weather is well-behaved and I hope it stays that way and that the coming week is a good one.
thathappyreader
Thank you Sarah!
Vicki
Sorry if this comment is repeated. I had a glitch on my computer .
I hope you and your husband get good reports from your doctors!
I watch all of the Chicago shows, I’ve never missed an episode of them.
I have the book My Husband’s Wife. I’ve loved all the books I’ve read by Alice Feeney.
thathappyreader
Thank you Vicki. I love her books too.
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?
I hope you and your husband receive good news and positive reports! We’ve had negative temps this weekend and it’s miserable. I feel like I’ll never be warm again. We got less snow than predicted, but I’m okay with that. I’m not a fan of driving on icy/snowy roads. Now if they cancel school, I’m all for it. 😉
thathappyreader
Stay warm Lindsi!
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life
I am glad that you have an update from your doctor about your husband. I am glad that they are able to do something right now to relieve his symptoms. Enjoy your nice weather!!
thathappyreader
Thank you Erin.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I hope the doctors are able to help you both figure out things so everyone is healthy and okay. I’ve been having issues with my arm/shoulder again. I think maybe the sitting at a computer is part of the issue as it bothers me more on days I’ve done that most of the day. I just finished my however many times rewatch of the Outlander series. Waiting the new Bridgerton series starting again this week! Hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
Oh no Lisa. I bet you’re right about the computer being a contributing factor. I hope you arm/shoulder feels better soon.
Trish
I love medical dramas as well! I actually put Grey’s Anatomy on as my comfort show when I don’t feel like watching anything new. The Pitt is really good. I’m not sure if you get the same deals in Canada, but I got HBO Max for $2.99 a month for twelve months on Black Friday. I know that’s a long time away now, but something to keep in mind if you are interested and it’s available to you.
thathappyreader
No it’s closer to $20 here for Crave which has the rights to HBO here in Canada.
Trish
That is pretty expensive, I agree!
thathappyreader
Thanks Trish.
Jen | Book Den
I’m so glad your weather is lovely! I live somewhere usually warm so the cold and ice is not very welcomed 🙂
thathappyreader
I can understand that Jen. Vancouver and area have the mildest winters in Canada and I feel blessed to live here.
Anne - Books of My Heart
Staying home isn’t a bad thing. We have lots of freezing rain and it’s cold for here, around freezing. So we are staying inside. I hope you get some good solutions on your medical results.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
thathappyreader
Thanks Anne.
Anne@HeadFullofBooks
Oh to be Canadian at this moment. You must feel so proud of the speech you PM gave at Davos. Trump, on the other hand is an embarrassment.
My heart is heavy this week: https://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com/2026/01/sunday-salon-minnesota.html

I am incredibly proud. He represents Canada well. My heart is breaking for Americans right now.
bibliophilebree
Hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
Thanks!
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
I’m binging home renovation shows at the moment while I have a temporary subscription to HBO Max.
I hope your husband is seen quickly.
Wishing you a happy reading week
thathappyreader
Thanks Shelleyrae.
hena
Good to hear you all are on top of your medical tests and hope everything is fine with everyone. Have you seen The Pitt? So so good.
thathappyreader
I’d like to Hena but the cost of subscribing to the service here in Canada that hosts it is too expensive on top of the other streaming services and cable we already pay for.
Her Digital Coffee
This weekend has been so cold! I can’t wait for the weather to warm up. I hope your appointments go well! Have a great week Jodie!
thathappyreader
Thank you Winnie.
Aj @ Read All The Things!
I hope hubby feels better soon!
thathappyreader
Thank you AJ.
