My Week:
We’ve had another mixed bag of weather this week, with sunny, warm days followed by stretches of rain. The upcoming switch to daylight saving time will actually be the last one in my province. After this, we’ll remain on daylight saving time year-round, and it will officially be called Pacific Time rather than Pacific Standard Time or Pacific Daylight Time. I’m grateful that this will give us an extra hour of daylight at the end of winter days, although it may take some getting used to when November arrives and we find ourselves in a different time zone from our neighbours in the western U.S.
We also had an unusual event this week when a meteor broke apart several kilometres above the Greater Vancouver area. It produced a brilliant flash of light and a sonic boom strong enough to be recorded on the Richter scale. My sister heard it and said it sounded like a truck had crashed through her house! We didn’t hear it where we live—probably just as well, since I was in the middle of my echocardiogram when it happened.
On a happier note, my sister and I spent a lovely day together shopping and going out for lunch. It was wonderful to have some time just the two of us.
Recent Additions To My Bookshelf:
From Publishers, Netgalley, & Libro.fm:

🇨🇦 While her brothers settle down and plan their futures, Manisha Patel finds herself moving back home, ignoring calls from her cheating ex, and fielding awkward questions about her love life. Things get even more complicated when she’s forced to work with Rohit Khanna—her father’s friend’s son—who may be handsome and stylish but also seems arrogant and rumored to be a cheater. Just as Manisha is trying to navigate the mess of her romantic life, she receives devastating news that her dream of having a family one day may be at risk. Desperate to take control of her future, she comes up with an unconventional solution: a fake matchmaking service with only one client—herself—giving her access to countless potential partners in hopes of finding the perfect husband and the happily-ever-after she’s always imagined.

After publishing her first novel, aspiring writer Lila Everwood dreams of landing her big break and finally leaving her barista job behind—until her latest writing attempt catches the attention of her literary idol for all the wrong reasons. Elizabeth Lancaster, the once-reigning queen of Regency romance, hasn’t written a book in three years, and her publisher’s desperate solution is to hire a ghostwriter—Lila, her favourite coffee server. While Elizabeth’s literary agent son, Grady, thinks the idea is a disaster waiting to happen, the unlikely partnership sparks creativity, unexpected friendship, and growing chemistry between Lila and Grady. As their lives and careers intertwine, Lila and Elizabeth discover that in love, life, and publishing, sometimes the only way forward is to write your own happy ending.

What I’m Watching:
I keep discovering new channels that were added to my cable package when I renewed my contract in February. One of them is the Heart & Home channel, which airs the current season of When Calls the Heart.
In the past, I’ve had to wait to watch the series on another channel that runs about two seasons behind, so it’s been a treat to finally catch up with the latest episodes. I’ve really been enjoying the series again!
I also love that this Hallmark show is filmed right here in Greater Vancouver. It makes it even more fun to watch.
Is anyone else a fan of When Calls the Heart?

That’s a wrap on The Weekend Post #197. How was your week?
I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
Wow, I’ve never witnessed a meteor event of any kind. Glad you were able to get the KWH book.
Have a great week, Jodie💜

Thanks Jonetta! You too.
Melissa
Oh goodness! That meteor sounds amazing but I am glad you didn’t hear it 😉 My week was quite a slow one but I’ve started two new books (one physical and one audio) so that’s always a good thing. Hope your weekend is a happy one!
thathappyreader
Thanks Melissa! I hope you’re having a great weekend.
Trish
That’s so interesting that your province won’t be switching the clocks back and forth anymore. I wish we would make that change where I live!
thathappyreader
It will be interesting for sure Trish.
Cindy's Book Corner
I love When Calls the Heart! Such a great show. I think it’s interesting you all will not do time change anymore. I honestly don’t know which way I would prefer it. Thankfully, I am not the one who has to make that decision. Have a great weekend!
thathappyreader
I’m glad it switched the way it did Cindy.
Anne
Sounds like you had a good week.

I’ve often wished we would not keep going back and forth with the time in the US. It was horrible when our kids were young and we were changing back and forth. It’s not great for anyone’s sleep patterns.
I did not hear about the meteor breaking up! Oh my goodness.
thathappyreader
Thank you Deb. It is hard to adjust to the new time when it changes.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
Oh my gosh, the meteor sounds so cool! And I’m so jealous of you guys getting to stop doing the change of time twice a year. As much as I like the way it is up till this point, and prefer the other one, I’d be happy to just stay with the same one the whole year round. I thought the US had talked about doing that, but guess it’s not happening. You got some good looking books this week. Hope you have a great week!
thathappyreader
My understanding is that several states want to make the change but it needs to go to congress Lisa.
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
I love When Calls the Heart. I have to watch it with a VPN though cause it’s only available on the one streaming service I refuse to have.
I’d love to have daylight savings year round. Ours ends at the end of this month and I’ll miss it til next time.
Wishing you a lovely reading week
thathappyreader
You too Shelleyrae.
Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
I had heard that BC was done with changing clocks, I wish Ontario would do the same. A meteor explosion! I hadn’t heard about that. I will wait for the Kristy Woodson Harvey book until my library gets it, I was declined on NG. I hope you have a good week, Jodie.
thathappyreader
I will never understand NG approvals Carla.
Anne - Books of My Heart
I wish we would stay on DST. I like it to be light later. I don’t care if it is dark in the morning – I’ll just sleep later in the winter. I know – it won’t work for everyone. Glad to hear you had a nice time with your sister.

Thanks Anne.
Victoria
I don’t like when we fall back in the fall. I’d be fine with skipping that and staying on one time. The weather here has been up and down and I’m guessing it will continue all month!
thathappyreader
I will not miss turning the clocks back Victoria.
Her Digital Coffee
What a lovely way to spend the week, Jodie. I saw a video of the meteor online and I can only imagine how scary it must’ve sounded! I hope you enjoy your week!
thathappyreader
I saw the satellite falling into Alberta too Winnie. I hope you have a great week too.
hena
I think we should all just permanently be in daylight saving time.. its obviously the superior option.. who doesn’t like more sunshine.
thathappyreader
While I am happy about the change, I think it depends on your latitude and lifestyle. In the winter months it does mean the children go to school in the dark Hena.
