My Week:
The weather here has been beautiful — warm and sunny, a welcome sign that spring has truly arrived. The lawn was cut for the first time this year, the maple trees are leafing out, and the rhododendrons and azaleas are beginning to bloom alongside the tulips. Spring really is a glorious season.
We enjoyed a lovely Easter dinner at my sister’s home on Sunday, which was a wonderful way to celebrate together. We also had a minor issue with our security alarm this week, but thankfully it was quickly resolved.
We connected with our friends in England over Facebook Messenger as well. We used to travel together often, but for now personal health concerns make that difficult. Even so, we continue to chat every month and keep up with each other’s lives, and I truly appreciate being able to stay connected in that way.
On Friday, I drove my husband to his stress test because parking at our cardiologist’s office has become quite challenging. I didn’t want him dealing with the stress of finding parking like I experienced back in March. Apparently a government office has opened in the same building and starts earlier than the medical offices, so visitors fill the parking lot before patients even arrive. It seems that everywhere we go for medical appointments now requires arriving very early just to secure a space.
And then comes the eternal parking dilemma — how much time should you pay for? Will the appointment run on time and only require an hour, or should you pay for two hours just in case? Does this sound familiar to anyone else?
Recent Additions To My Bookshelf:
From Publishers, Netgalley, & Libro.fm:

Estranged sisters Maeve and Therese Dunigan—one a rule-following pragmatist, the other a rebellious free spirit—are forced back together after their mother’s death leaves them a potentially priceless painting that could solve both their financial troubles, if it’s real. When doubts about its authenticity arise, the only way forward is a road trip to Ireland to trace their family roots, uncover the truth behind a long-ago crime, and break a lingering family curse. As simmering tensions collide with winding roads, lively villages, cozy pubs, and charming strangers, the sisters must navigate old wounds and new discoveries to solve the mystery, save their inheritance, and possibly repair their fractured bond along the way. Thanks to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the ARC of this audiobook.

From Audible:

As fall arrives on Nantucket, change touches the lives of several interconnected families and friends. Widow Kay Johnson comes to the island seeking rest and companionship, forming an unexpected friendship with fellow widower Walter Sturgess, whose son Travis—a recently divorced tech CEO—is temporarily living with him along with his young daughter, Sophie. Travis’s new oceanfront home is being built by Chase Hodges, Lisa’s son, placing him back in close proximity to Victoria, his former high school girlfriend who is newly single after ending her engagement. As old feelings resurface, Victoria struggles with the idea of romance that includes instant parenthood, while Kristen, newly married to Tyler, questions whether she wants children at all. Meanwhile, Lisa faces growing competition threatening her online food business, forcing her to consider bold marketing changes, and Chase confronts a rival construction company undercutting his bids, leaving everyone navigating unexpected challenges, second chances, and shifting futures on the island.
What I’m Watching:
I’ve been following the Artemis II mission on YouTube this week and have absolutely loved watching the journey unfold. Canada has so much to be proud of — not only is Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen part of the crew, but there’s also an incredible team of Canadians contributing behind the scenes. The images being sent back to Earth have been breathtaking.
Has anyone else been following the mission?

I got Road Trip, too, and I’m sure we will both enjoy the book. Hubby and I watched the Artemis II r entry last night and it was riveting stuff!
Have a great week!

You too Jonetta!

Going to the moon is definitely a great thing to watch!

It reminded me of my childhood Mae!

The mission in space is mesmerizing and it’s a welcome distraction to less positive news.
I’m glad spring is arriving there!

Thanks Deb. I absolutely agree with you.

I haven’t had to deal with medical appointments and parking. I can see how that would be a pain! We’re lucky to go to either a dedicated medical building with a large parking lot or a hospital campus with multiple parking garages. The latter is sometimes crowded, but there is always room on the roof and I kind of enjoy parking there.
I have another Canadian friend who really got into following Jeremy Hansen and the Canadian-made tech. You’ll see that much of my post today is about Artemis II.

We have to pay for parking hospitals too Joy. As a retired nurse I do not agree with it. I look forward to reading your post!
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
The whole Artemis thing has been so exciting! I even made a display for my students in the library about space travel and made some bookmarks and stickers about the Artemis crew and patches they have. Luckily I go to doctors that are in the suburbs and don’t require paying for parking. But yeah, with how it always takes so long to get in, even past appointment time, I’d be unsure how much to pay for. Hope you have a good week!

Thanks Lisa!
Anne - Books of My Heart
Parking is no joy. We live in the suburbs and luckily with our medical appointments we are fortunate to be able to do telehealth or in suburban offices which have plenty of free parking. But this is partly because I plan it this way. The hospitals are the ones with the most pay parking decks. Keep enjoying the spring weather and blooms.

Yes we take the telehealth from our physicians choice when possible too.
Cindy's Book Corner
Thankfully we don’t have to pay for parking at most of our appointments, just some. Normally, we are able to pay as we leave. We only have metered parking downtime, and I don’t go down there very often. I hope you enjoy your two newest additions and have a great week!

Thank you Cindy.
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
I was relieved to see the crew of Artemis safely return back to Earth.
We don’t have metered parking but there are parking time limits for most car parks and streets, and we have an overly zealous parking ranger.
Wishing you a happy reading week.

You too Shelleyrae.

That parking situation sounds challenging, especially since there are so many visitors for one building. I hope everyone is doing well and that you have a great week, Jodie!

Thanks Winnie.
Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
Somehow, I missed this post last week, Jodie. Yes, the parking issue is really a pain and dilemma. I will be cutting my grass for the first time tomorrow. I would have cut it already, but it’s rained everyday for over a week. I love technology so that I can communicate easily with those that are not in the same place that I am in. I also got Road Trip to listen to. I’m sure we’ll both enjoy it.

Glad to hear your weather is nice enough to cut the lawn Carla.
