My Week:
It’s been a lovely, warm week, with temperatures well above seasonal norms. I’ve already turned on our newly repaired central air conditioning as weekend temperatures are expected to reach 30°C.
On the flip side, we are experiencing drought conditions due to significantly lower-than-normal snowpack in the mountains. These snowpacks typically melt and replenish our reservoirs, which are now at their lowest levels in more than a decade. As a result, instead of beginning with the usual Level 1 water restrictions, we are moving directly to Level 2 restrictions, which prohibit lawn watering. Officials are also anticipating Level 3 restrictions as early as June to help preserve water supplies for essential needs like drinking and cooking.
Despite the dry conditions, this week was dedicated to getting the garden ready for the season. We’ve planted most of our vegetables and picked up herbs and hanging baskets. I still need to add some flowering annuals to the beds and containers, which I’m hoping to finish this weekend.
Recent Additions To My Bookshelf:

🇨🇦 Best friends since childhood, Frankie and George have always been drawn together despite their fiery, headstrong clashes—until their bond fractures on the eve of Frankie’s wedding. When her fiancé abruptly ends things the morning after a perfect celebration, Frankie retreats home heartbroken, only for George to propose an unexpected escape: taking her honeymoon together. A week in the rainforests and misty beaches of Tofino becomes a last chance to mend their fractured friendship, forcing them to confront buried secrets and long-suppressed feelings that could either heal them both or break them apart for good.
From The Library:

Three years after a life-changing book club night with their daughters, lifelong friends Elin, Grace, Mariella, and Jamie reunite on the stunning shores of Lake Como, Italy, for the first time since that fateful evening. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, delicious food, and their well-loved books, the women attempt to reconnect—but beneath the warmth of their reunion lie long-held secrets about what truly happened that night. As old memories resurface, the friends must confront the past and discover whether the bonds of friendship, love, and their shared passion for literature can finally help them move forward.

Maisy Gallaher once dreamed of becoming a nurse but put her ambitions aside after her father’s death to support her family, quietly wondering about the life she sacrificed. Chase Furst, a guarded bank executive and heir to a financial empire, has grown emotionally distant after a difficult childhood shaped by his mother’s addiction. When their paths cross, Maisy’s warmth and selflessness unsettle Chase—especially when she refuses his offer of payment for her help and instead challenges him to “pay it forward” through genuine kindness. Determined to prove he can, Chase begins to change, and as their lives intertwine, both discover that compassion, vulnerability, and love might heal more than they ever expected.

What I’m Watching:
I’m looking forward to watching The Corrections on Netflix when it becomes available. The limited series is based on the novel by Jonathan Franzen and will star Meryl Streep, one of my favourite actors. Will you be watching it too?
