My Week:

Does anyone else feel like the weeks are flying by? It seems like only a couple of days ago that I wrote my last post, yet here I am again, a week later. Summer is slipping by so quickly.

Firstly, let me apologize to anyone trying to access my site on Wednesday. I was having intermittent downtimes related to an incompatibility of a plug-in which updated recently. After six hours of playing detective and getting some help from my host, the issue is resolved.

Last week I shared that my hubby was waiting for a couple of medical tests, and this week he was able to have his CT scan and we are now awaiting the results. Unfortunately, we learned that the cardiac MRI cannot be done through the private system, despite what we had previously been told. He is now on the wait list at three area hospitals, so we’re hoping one of them will be able to get him in sooner rather than later.

I also mentioned that my brother-in-law’s cabin in the Interior is being threatened by one of the many wildfires burning across our province. This fire continues to pose a serious threat, and the next few days are expected to be especially challenging due to high temperatures, wind and the forecast of dry lightning. As I write this Friday morning, the fire threatening their cabin is 1260 square km in size (about 486 square miles). We have five other fires which are considered fires of concern and a total of 105 fires in the province. We are incredibly grateful to the 300 wildfire firefighters from Mexico who arrived this week to help battle these devastating fires. We are also thankful for the firefighters arriving soon from Australia, as well as the fire specialists coming from New Zealand. The support from other nations during this difficult time has been truly heartwarming. We now have thousands of people currently displaced from their homes due to the fires and hundreds of others who have lost theirs homes already. It is incredibly sad.

We experienced poor air quality for the past few days this week, not only because of the fires here in British Columbia but also from the wildfires burning in Washington State.

On a brighter note, we enjoyed an evening out with my sister and brother-in-law, and it was exactly what we needed—a chance to step away from the stress for a few hours. We also booked a three-night getaway to Victoria in a few weeks, which has helped ease some of the disappointment of having to cancel our Halifax trip last week. Sometimes it’s nice to have something to look forward to.

What I’m Watching:

I’m continuing to watch The Five Star Weekend, Alone and Big Brother. We also watched The Devil wears Prada and The Roses both on Disney + this week and enjoyed them both.
