My Week:
We continue to enjoy sunny weather, with the occasional bit of rain. On Saturday, we both voted in our municipal election and then received our COVID and influenza vaccines. Monday was my hair appointment, and on Tuesday, we took Mom to her optometrist appointment, followed by lunch and a bit of shopping. On Wednesday, I accompanied Mom to a family physician appointment and then took her to the lab for some tests. Thankfully, her pain has improved, and she no longer has pain radiating down her leg, which is a relief. She had her MRI on Thursday, and we’re hoping to receive the results within the next couple of weeks. Friday was my son’s birthday, so we hosted a family get-together to celebrate his special day.
Just a friendly reminder about my 2026 Christmas Reading Challenge. There’s still plenty of time to participate. You can jump in at any time, and the challenge runs until December 31.
Recent Additions To My Bookshelf:
From Netgalley, Libro.fm, publishers or authors:

Reclusive author Mabel Miller plans to spend another quiet Christmas alone with her cats, but a massive snowstorm changes everything when two cars crash outside her isolated cottage, leaving her unexpectedly sheltering a family with two children and two colleagues with a complicated history. As her unwanted guests slowly break through her carefully guarded privacy, Mabel finds herself baking cookies, making cocoa and opening up her library—and the secrets hidden within it. With Christmas bringing unexpected friendship and forcing Mabel to confront the past she has worked so hard to hide, she may finally find the courage to rewrite her story and discover a little holiday magic of her own. Thank you to Harlequin Audio and Netgalley for the ARC.

After his father’s death, Theo Parrish inherits Parrish Cruise Lines, the ambitious cruise company his father built, and takes responsibility for its future when his twin brother declines to get involved. Determined to honour his father’s legacy, Theo boards the company’s first vessel for a training voyage, but a violent storm cripples the ship’s communications and power, leaving it stranded at sea. As days turn into months and supplies dwindle, Theo must make impossible decisions to keep everyone alive while tensions rise, alliances form and dangerous secrets emerge, including one passenger’s shocking hidden truth. With rescue uncertain, the passengers and crew face a desperate fight for survival, unsure who will make it home alive. Thank you to Maryam @ Simon and Schuster for reaching out to me and providing me with the ALC.
Future Releases Recently Added to My TBR:

After a devastating diagnosis and a painful breakup leave popular storyteller Sunny Callaway struggling to write, a surprising discovery leads her to a small town fighting for survival after its tea factory closes, where she finds family she never knew she had. There, she reconnects with her long-lost cousin Nova Frances Clark, a tea shop owner whose special chamomile blends have healing properties but who has little hope of saving her struggling hometown. As the cousins work together to revitalize the community, they discover the power of family, friendship and shared traditions, learning that sometimes the greatest magic comes from opening their hearts, embracing new beginnings and finding the stories that matter most. Thank you to Carla @ Carla Loves To Read for bringing this book to my attention. It is scheduled to be published on December 1.

TV reporter Becca Larson travels to Florida to cover a newlywed couple’s disastrous honeymoon, hoping the story will boost her ratings. After meeting with Eve Schmidt and arranging the segment, Becca is baffled when Eve suddenly disappears and all attempts to contact her fail. Returning home without a story, Becca is shocked when police arrive investigating a murder, with evidence suggesting she may be involved. As Eve remains missing and suspicion closes in, Becca finds herself fighting to clear her name while her career, credibility, and marriage begin to unravel. Determined to uncover the truth, she must figure out what really happened before her pursuit of the perfect story destroys her life. I learned about this book on Netgalley. It is scheduled to be released January 19.
What I’m Watching:
We started watching the Netflix miniseries Below, starring Josh Hartnett, this week. Set in a remote Newfoundland town, it’s giving me serious Jaws vibes as a fisherman investigates his father’s death and encounters a mysterious creature lurking beneath the water. I’m intrigued to see where this one goes!
