My Week:
It’s been a busy stretch, with moving my son last weekend and having several appointments this week. The weather has been unusually warm. We had rain during the move, but it’s been sunny since Tuesday. The daffodils are already forming their flower heads—let’s hope we avoid a late-season snow or hard freeze.
Cherry blossoms are blooming in Victoria, just across the water from Vancouver, even earlier than usual. Unfortunately, our water reservoirs depend on mountain snow, and there hasn’t been much this year. I’m hoping for a big snowfall in the mountains only, with nothing at lower elevations—but that may be asking too much.
Recent Additions To My Bookshelf:
From Publishers, Netgalley, & Libro.fm:

Stella has spent decades running from the heartbreak that drove her from her childhood village in the hills of Liguria, but a surprise birthday trip from her fiancé forces her to return and face a first love and a long-standing family rift. Meanwhile, Amy, grieving her beloved grandpa, follows the clues of a mysterious coin necklace and postcard to the Italian Riviera, where a chance encounter leads her to Stella’s village and secrets buried since the war. Set among cobbled medieval streets, sunlit piazzas, and olive groves, both women uncover unexpected truths about their families and themselves. As past and present intertwine, Stella and Amy must decide whether confronting old wounds and opening their hearts can lead them to healing, happiness, and second chances in this warm, romantic, and emotional escape to Italy.
From The Library:

When culinary student Madison Walker’s New York dreams crumble, a misdial to her brother’s best friend, James Huxley, leads to an unexpected lifeline—a head chef position at his family’s new farm-to-table restaurant in Rome, Kentucky. What she doesn’t realize is that James, who’s secretly loved her for years, created the job just for her. As they work side by side turning his vision into reality, an impulsive kiss ignites a secret relationship they try to keep hidden from the town—and her overprotective brother. But as the restaurant’s opening nears, family tensions rise and feelings deepen, forcing Madison and James to decide whether their love can survive the heat or if it’s destined to fall apart.

What I’m Watching:
As I write this post on Friday morning, I’m waiting for the opening ceremonies of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina, Italy, to begin later today. If you’ve been following my Weekend Posts for a few years, you already know what a big Olympics fan I am. I’ll be watching most of the events, but my favourite is always figure skating. If you’re enjoying the Games, what’s your favourite event to watch?

That’s a wrap on The Weekend Post #193. How was your week?
I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
I’m watching the Olympics, too, along with the Super Bowl on Sunday. Do love figure skating and the speed skating events. I binge watched the entire new season of Lincoln Lawyer Thursday night. Hubby and I are still recovering from that all nighter.
Have a great week, Jodie💜

Thanks Jonetta! You too.
Carla
I didn’t know the new season of Lincoln Lawyer was out, thanks Jo. It will be tough to fit it in with the Olympics though.
Cindy's Book Corner
I enjoy the winter Olympics as well, I love figure skating, but not sure if I will have opportunity to watch anything this year. Have a great week!

Thanks Cindy.

I love the Olympics, and I’m looking forward to watching the Games this year in Italy, too.
I like that cover on The Italian Village in the Hills.

It’s pretty, isn’t it!
Jamie
I am reading “In your dreams “ as well. I’ve enjoyed the series overall , so I am excited !
As for the Olympics – Go Canada 🇨🇦 I’ll pretty much watch anything !

Thanks Jamie! I hope you enjoy the games!

Wow! We’re not thinking about daffodils and cherry blossoms in Missouri, yet. That’s tricky about having to worry about snowfall and drinking water — that’s not something we have to think about here next to the Mississippi River.
I’m currently watching curling. I think I’ve just figured out how the scoring works!
thathappyreader
Thanks Joy! I enjoy they curling too!

I want to start the When in Rome series, as it has always gotten good reviews. I love watching the Olympics, and prefer the winter ones to the summer games. I love the figure skating (my daughter used to figure skate) and the hockey. The speed skating is also a favourite of mine. Have a great week Jodie, and hopefully that snow in the mountains will happen.
thathappyreader
Thanks Carla. I used to figure skate as well!
Anne - Books of My Heart
I love Olympics! I wish I could fit in the time to watch every minute of all the sports. I enjoy the figure skating, skiing, snowboarding, skating and curling. I was on a curling team in junior and senior high school. My small town in Iowa had the only curling rink in Iowa, at the time. My dad’s company got it started. First they had an outdoor rink and then later a building was added to the country club which also had a golf course and outdoor swimming pool. Anyway, I have a special love for curling, along with the skiing, skating we did in the winter. Of course, I have no talent, it was just fun.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

I love them too! My Dad made the ice in rinks Anne. I think I could skate by the time I was 3.

Ack I got an error and I think your site ate my post so I’m sorry if this is a duplicate…
I generally only watch the highlights but I do try to watch the figure skating programs. I showed my daughter the iconic Torvill and Dean performance the other day, and I saw a stunning routine by a male Olympic hopeful he performed at another event. I think he has a chance at Gold (but I can’t remember his name.
Wishing you a lovely reading week, and more spring weather

Thanks Shelleyrae.

Hearing that the cherry blossoms are blooming in Victoria makes me miss it so much! It’s absolutely beautiful there in the spring and summer, and I hope I can visit again soon. Have a great week Jodie!

You too Winnie!
Trish
I love watching figure skating. I used to watch it religiously but drifted away for quite a while. I am enjoying watching it during the Olympics! I find some of the other sports interesting, but figure skating is my favorite.
thathappyreader
We have that in common Trish!
Yvonne @ It's All About Books
I can’t wait to get a copy of the new Sarah Adams! I love the Olympics and always watched back when I was living in the Netherlands, but they don’t show it on TV down here in Argentina so I haven’t been able to follow much. It’s a shame because I especially loved watching anything skating-related…

I wonder if you can watch clips on youtube Yvonne?
