My Week:
It has been an especially somber week here in British Columbia as our province grieves the tragic loss of nine lives in a devastating act of violence at a small-town high school. Such events are mercifully rare in Canada, which makes this loss all the more deeply felt. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the families and communities whose lives have been forever changed by this tragedy.
On a gentler note, the weather has remained mild, and the forecast shows that snow may soon dust our local mountains. Even more surprising, cherry blossoms are already beginning to bloom—nearly a month earlier than usual. These early hints of spring make for beautiful walks and offer small moments of comfort as nature quietly reminds us of renewal and hope.

From The Library:

After losing her husband Joe, Tilly Nightingale is stunned to discover a final birthday gift he arranged before his death: twelve carefully chosen books, one for each month, designed to guide her through her first year of grief. As Tilly reluctantly begins to read again, each story carries her to new places around the world—from New York and Paris to Tuscany and Bali—while gently helping her rediscover herself beyond her loss. With the quiet support of bookshop owner Alfie, Tilly learns how stories can heal, opening the door to hope, renewal, and the possibility of loving again.
From Audible:

Izzy’s life is on the verge of major change as she wrestles with whether to give her ex, Rick Savage, another chance now that he seems committed to becoming a better man, or allow herself to move forward and possibly explore deeper feelings for a longtime friend. While she sorts through her emotions, she’s adjusting to new responsibilities that shift her focus beyond herself, all while living with her supportive sister Mia, whose own budding romance adds to the swirl of change. Meanwhile, the Hodges family faces upheavals of their own as Kate prepares to share a big announcement and Lisa discovers she’s broken an important rule at her bed and breakfast, making it clear that transformation is on the horizon for everyone.
What I’m Watching:
The Olympic Games are basically all I’ll be watching for the next couple of weeks. With the nine-hour time difference between Italy and Vancouver, we’ve been catching up on recorded events that aired while we were asleep until we’re up to speed and can watch live. My favourite event so far has been ice dance, especially after watching the three-part documentary Glitter & Gold on Netflix about the top three teams. If you’re following the Games too, what’s been your favourite event so far?

I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
My heart aches for the families of those nine lives. Unfortunately, it’s all too common in the US as people seem to love their automatic weapons more than our precious children.
I’m watching the Olympics, too. Happy Valentine’s Day♥️

Happy Valentine’s Day to you too Jonetta.

I was stunned when I heard about Tumbler Ridge, such tragedy. I’m glad this is so rare in Canada, but even once is too many time. Truly heartbreaking. I loved This Book Made Me Think of You, but have tissues handy when you read it, Jodie. I am also watching the Olympics. I’m so glad I brought my firestick with me to Cancun. I also loved the Ice Dancing and the Speed Skating. Of course I love watching the hockey, in fact, I’m watching the women play in the Quarterfinals as I type this. I hope you have a good week and get some snow in the mountains. The last thing BC needs is a dry year.

Thank you Carla. This is BC’s second tragedy in less than a year and it’s way too much.
Melissa
I am so sorry to know of the tragic loss and deep grief in BC. These tragedies are simply devastating.
Thank you for mentioning This Book Made Me Think of You. Yours is the second mention I’ve seen today so it’s been added to my TBR. Thank you.

I have This Book Made Me Think of You on hold at the library, but there are quite a few people ahead of me. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Yay for mild weather. Have a wonderful weekend!

You too Cindy.
Trish
I was so sorry to hear about the recent tragedy.
I enjoy the Olympics but have not been able to watch as much as I have wanted. Figure skating is my favorite event.

Thank you Trish.
Marg @ The Intrepid Reader
I am interested in reading This Book Made Me Think of You as well!
We have been watching a lot of Olympics. Most of the events happen in the middle of the night so we see a lot of recaps
Have a great week!

You too Marg! FYI – I tried to visit your block but my internet shuts it down saying it’s a suspicious site.
Joy's Book Blog
I’m enjoying the Olympics. I liked the ice dancing, too. I have watched more curling than I imagined that I would.

I think I have too Joy!

Absolutely dreadful news from Canada, it’s so sad and my heart breaks for all those affected.

Harvee
I’ve been watching some Olympic games, inbetween binging on Turkish drama on Netflix. I confessed I’m hooked as some of the plots are quite good.

I’ve know what you mean about binging a show Harvee!
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
This Book Made Me Think of You is a book I want to read. My library has finally ordered copies of this book.

Thank you Deb.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I saw that tragic news and was shocked it wasn’t in the US. I also have This Book Made Me Think of You on my TBR. I’m not really watching the Olympics unless I’m somewhere that someone has it on. My mom loved watching the curling. We are having some very early spring like weather here too, I need to get myself started walking to hopefully get my mind set on that to walk when it does actually become spring. Hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
You too Lisa.
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life
We are enjoying the Olympics too! We are really liking moguls this year.
thathappyreader
I love them too! I have no idea how they stay upright!
Anne - Books of My Heart
I am so sorry about the shooting. You are having an early spring and ours is delayed. I usually am planting my garden but it won’t be until March as it’s too cold yet.

Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
Such a tragedy, the growing tolerance of hate, prejudice and violence worldwide is so detrimental to everyone.
I watch the daily Olympic Games highlights which I enjoy, and the figure skating when I can.
Wishing you a happy reading week

Thank you Shelleyrae.

The news was absolutely heartbreaking, definitely not something we’re used to hearing in Canada. I hope you enjoyed Valentine’s Day and Family Day long weekend with your loved ones. Have a great week Jodie!
