My Week:
Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all who are celebrating!
After a few days of unseasonably high temperatures, we’re back to more seasonal weather. I’ve made three trips to the garden centre during their annual sale to pick up soil, plants, and hanging baskets. Everything is finally planted, and I’m looking forward to enjoying some beautiful summer colour.
My back has been giving me spasms this week, but thankfully it seems to be improving a little each day. My husband’s cardiologist appointment did reveal an issue, so he is now waiting for an appointment with an electrophysiologist — apparently the wait time is more than six months. The doctor has also ordered bloodwork, so we’ll see if that shows anything significant. For now, he has given us the okay to travel to Halifax this summer, provided there are no new symptoms or findings. We had been considering another trip for the fall but decided to wait until this situation is addressed.
Our kitchen faucet also decided it was time for replacement — a very slow drip was the giveaway — so a new one should arrive next week. It seems we’re on a bit of a roll lately when it comes to things needing replacement or a fix.
On Friday, my mom, sister, and I visited several cemeteries across Metro Vancouver to place flowers on the graves of my grandmothers and great-grandmother in honour of Mother’s Day. This weekend, we’re planning a shopping trip and lunch outing, which is Mom’s chosen way to celebrate.

Tam Remington has spent ten years quietly keeping YorkMart running while others took the credit, shrinking herself along the way. When she’s briefly named acting Managing Director, it finally feels like her moment—until the role is handed to newcomer Jack Cesaroni, the very man she expected to resent. But when the two become trapped together in a broken lift, Jack recognizes Tam’s true talent and potential, sparking both newfound confidence and an unexpected connection between them. Faced with the choice between remaining invisible or reclaiming her authentic self, Tam must decide whether to take a leap toward the life—and love—she truly deserves in this heartfelt enemies-to-lovers story about self-worth, courage, and being truly seen.

The week after the Fourth of July, the Shipman sisters reunite at their beloved New Hampshire beach house for what they expect to be their first family gathering since their mother’s death—only to learn that their father plans to sell the home filled with childhood memories. Youngest sister Mae struggles with personal heartbreak and a troublesome rescue dog, middle sister Natalie’s carefully curated tradwife image begins to unravel, and eldest sister Jordan, a crisis communications expert facing troubles of her own, is surprisingly ready to let the house go. As packing up the family home forces long-buried tensions and memories to the surface—and their father’s new wife complicates matters further—the sisters must confront their individual struggles and decide what truly holds their family together, discovering that home is ultimately defined by the bonds they share rather than the place itself.

Lauren lands the opportunity of a lifetime when she’s chosen to lead Nantucket Influence, a new reality show following a group of young influencers spending the summer in a stunning waterfront home. The job promises a major career breakthrough—except one of the cast members is Billy, the ex who once betrayed her, forcing Lauren to decide whether professional ambition is worth daily proximity to heartbreak. As filming begins, she grows close to Hudson, a Nantucket production company owner and friend of Billy’s, despite knowing their connection has an expiration date once she returns to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, her college friend Angela reconnects with exciting personal news, and local rivalries heat up when innkeeper Lisa takes on her nemesis Violet in a spirited lobster quiche showdown at the island’s food festival, adding small-town drama to an already unforgettable summer.
What I’m Watching:
I recently discovered a new eight-episode Prime series that has captured my interest. It’s Not Like That follows a widowed pastor and father of two and a divorced mother of three whose families were once inseparable before drifting apart. Now brought back into each other’s lives, they have the chance to reconnect and perhaps redefine what they once meant to one another. The series stars Scott Foley and Erinn Hayes and airs May 15.
