My Week:
Has it really been a week since my last weekend post? Time truly feels like it’s flying by.
We’ve been spoiled with beautiful sunny weather all week, and it has felt like a gift. I started my sweet peas this week, a little later than usual this year, but I’m hoping they’ll still reward us with an abundance of colour and their incredible fragrance throughout the summer. They’re one of my favourite flowers — perfect for picking every day or two to bring a little burst of summer indoors.
We also enjoyed a lovely day out with my mom and sister this week, including a fun visit to the casino followed by lunch at a local PGA clubhouse. And my son surprised us with a robot floor mop — the tech-lover in me thoroughly enjoyed getting everything set up!
I hope whatever you’re doing today brings you joy.☺️
Recent Additions To My Bookshelf:
From Publishers, Netgalley, & Libro.fm:

After a devastating public revelation ends her marriage and dismantles her carefully curated country club life, Claire starts over by creating a bold checklist for her future—move to a new city, build real friendships, and find work she truly loves. Taking a leap of faith, she relocates to Chicago, a city she’s long dreamed of calling home, and begins rebuilding her life one brave step at a time. Along the way, she rediscovers her passion for baking, forms meaningful new friendships, and lets her daughter Minnie take charge of her dating life, leading to both humorous mishaps and unexpected growth. As she navigates fresh beginnings, Claire finds herself drawn to Miles, her charming yet seemingly off-limits neighbour, while learning to silence self-doubt and finally ask what she truly wants. Through small victories, heartfelt lessons, and newfound courage, Claire discovers that belonging isn’t something granted by others—it’s something you create for yourself, often when you least expect it. Thanks to Thomas Nelson Fiction and Netgalley for the ARC.
From The Library:

An aging mutt named Harold is determined to honour the final wish of his late owner, romance novelist Amelia May: help her grieving partner, Miguel, find love again. But Miguel has withdrawn from the world after Amelia’s death, rarely leaving the struggling bookstore they once ran together. When a famous author fails to appear for an event that could have saved the shop, Miguel and Harold set out to track him down—only to encounter the author’s guarded sister, Fiona, who dislikes dogs, and her warm-hearted eleven-year-old daughter, also named Amelia. As Harold tries to nudge the stubborn humans around him toward connection, he begins to believe his beloved Amelia was right that coincidences may actually be fate, and that helping Miguel open his heart again could lead to a new and unexpected happy ending.

What I’m Watching:
I’ve been watching several season finales this week, including The Voice (such a short season!), Doc, and The Pitt. Now the long wait for them to return. I’m excited that Henry Winkler’s Hazardous History returns for a second season this Wednesday on the History Channel. I really enjoyed the show last year and am looking forward to seeing more of the wild and fascinating antics from the past that he brings to life this season.

I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Jonetta | Blue Mood Café
How did I miss the Walsh book? The second one looks great, too, so thanks for featuring them💜

My pleasure Jonetta.
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life
Dog Person looks so good but also like I would totally sob. Lol. That dog on the cover reminds me of my dog that I used to have, Penny.
Enjoy your week!
thathappyreader
I’m thinking I will react the same way Erin. I hope you have a great week too.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
Both of your new books sound good! Added to my TBR. We had stormy weather with some nice days as well. Sounds like the beginning of our week will be nice ending with storms again later this week. Hope you have a good week!
thathappyreader
You too Lisa!
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz
I like how the main character in Brighter Than Before relocates to Chicago, one of my favorite cities. And Dog Person sounds fascinating, too. I’m glad you had a week of great weather.
thathappyreader
Thank you Deb!
Sarah @ Brainfluff
Glad you have been having lovely weather, too! I love sweet peas, but they struggle in our garden due to the strong winds we get – we’re rather close to the sea. Hope the coming week is a good one, Jodie:).
thathappyreader
Thank you Sarah.
Anne - Books of My Heart
I like the tech too. We have an inexpensive floor duster and Lulu gives it a wide berth. Enjoy your nice weather.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
thathappyreader
I can see that Lulu would! Thanks Anne.
Harvee
i enjoy dog books that end happily – dog detectives, for one. There are several of those, who help their adults catch criminals, etc. Spencer Quinn, for instance, has a series with a PI and a dog who does the narrating n the books. Very clever.

Thanks Harvee.
Sarah Collins
Sounds like a lovely week!
I startedy sweetpeas and sunflowers a couple of weeks ago – I’m behind on planting too, the weather keeps holding me up 🤣
thathappyreader
Good for you Sarah! That is my reason too.
Her Digital Coffee
The robot mop sounds amazing! I’d love to know your thoughts on it once you start using it, as I’ve been thinking about something similar for a while. Have a great week Jodie!

I will Winnie!
Yvonne @ It's All About Books
I’m tempted by that Courtney Walsh title! And I’m actually about to start my sweet peas as well; last year I had a volunteer pop up in Autumn and it was a lot stronger than any plan I started during Spring…
thathappyreader
Wow! I’d love to have a volunteer!
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
I hate mopping so I’m jealous of your robo mop! I did just get a new stick vacuum though.
Thanks for sharing your week
thathappyreader
Thanks for reading Shelleyrae!
Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer
I love the Pitt. I wish our lovely weather stuck around for the weekend. Both last weekend and this weekend are going to be cold and overcast..but today it’s 88. LOL
thathappyreader
The Pitt is my favourite show Kimberly.
Rolé @ Hooked By That Book
Sounds like a fun week. We just finished watching Schitt’s Creek. Planning to watch the new Outlander episodes soon. Hope you have a wonderful week!
thathappyreader
I need to finish watching Schitt’s Creek! Thanks for the reminder.
Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
I’ve never heard of a robot mop. I hope it’s all working out for you. I also got the Courtney Walsh audiobook. I hope we both enjoy it, Jodie. It sounds like you had a wonderful week. I love flowers on the table, as well.

Thank you Carla.
